New Study: America’s Most Liberal States Rank Least Free

New Study: America’s Most Liberal States Rank Least Free: "New Study: America’s Most Liberal States Rank Least Free"

According to a new study released by the Mercatus Center of George Mason University, some of our most liberal states rank at the bottom in a measure of personal freedom. “Freedom in the 50 States, an index of personal and economic freedom,” finds the most free states to be first New Hampshire, then Colorado, followed by S. Dakota, Idaho, Texas, Missouri, Tennessee, Arizona, Virginia and N. Dakota. The bottom ten least free states in the U.S. are (in descending order) Connecticut, Illinois, Massachusetts, Washington, Hawaii, Maryland, California, Rhode Island, New Jersey, and bringing up the bottom is New York.

It is striking that some of the most Republican states are the most free and all the least free are Democrat states, isn’t it? (2008 Election Map)

Obama’s 100 days to Ownership and Responsibility

Obama’s 100 days to Ownership and Responsibility: "Never before has one risen to the level of such leadership as Barack Obama.

President Obama has put the world on notice that Bush is out and he is in – all in! President Obama is officially the owner of all things American, (and socialist).

And so, by the rights bestowed upon him, by himself, President Obama hereby declares that a new prefix be attached to each and every one of his new possessions, (i.e., The “Obama” economy, the “Obama” war in Iraq, the “Obama” recession, the “Obama” auto industry, the “Obama” deficit, etc.). You get the point.

But all kidding aside, the important thing to remember is this. If, after putting his micromanaging fingers and trillions of taxpayer dollars into every aspect of our republic, President Obama is bold enough to expect all the credit when the good times return, then he better have the courage to accept all the responsibility if they don’t - starting now!"

Obama and the Bogeyman

Obama and the Bogeyman: "Since time immemorial wannabe dictators and despots have repeatedly used the same tactics to achieve their tyrannical but disguised intentions.

Their collective agenda generally consists of imposing some twisted ideology or nefarious system of rulership on a society duped by lies, real or manufactured threats to the state and the fracturing of societies along racial, religious, political or economic lines.

Among the more favoured devices is the creation of a bogeyman in the country. The bogeyman can be presented as internal or external threats from which everyone needs protection. The bogeyman is not only a frightening figure designed to scare children. It is also used to scare entire populations."

So here, then you have the bogeyman emerging from the shadows during a tight election campaign. Meanwhile, en masse, the U.S. media aligns itself with Obama ensuring he gets elected. Follow this closely because several bogeymen are unleashed against the American people almost simultaneously.

They are:

* The mainstream media propagandist creates the “racist” bogeyman. Anyone who disagrees or speaks out against Obama is labelled a racist. That tactic persists to this day.
* The automotive sector is cast as a corporate bogeyman that is not to be trusted and needs the guidance of business experts in the White House to control them. Suddenly the American government is dictating how companies must be run if do not couple they won’t get any money. The Communists tried this for years and created the Lada and some of the shoddiest products in the World. You must remember the Lada? It was designed to become a tractor for use in growing your own crop of turnips when needed, which was almost always, in the People’s Paradise.
* Gun owners were the next target for demonization. Several recent shooting events are giving gun opponents all the ammunition needed to convince a supportive administration that Second Amendment rights must be trampled down and citizens disarmed. Disarm the population and you can do pretty much anything you like.
* A really interesting bogeyman is the rich. Taking a page right out of Karl Marx’s The Communist Manifesto, President Obama has targetted the rich for special tax attention. The flaw in this Brave New World thinking is, it is designed to make the poorer folks think they are going to get some of the money from the rich. At only five per cent of the tax-paying population, unfortunately there are not enough rich people to meet the demand. It just means more people will be poorer. After all, who creates the jobs and opportunities for the poor or middle-class? The government? No, the rich. In the Communist countries they had equality. Everyone was poor except for, you guessed it, the politicians. The smart people fled to the U.S., Canada and other countries where they could operate businesses and create wealth and jobs.
* Current external bogeymen are threats posed by Iran’s nuclear aspirations, Pakistan, a country armed with nuclear weapons, and precariously close to falling into the hands of the Taliban, Afghanistan and trade with Canada. Since the Obama administration has launched a Buy American campaign, I am assuming he does not want Canadian oil or natural gas and possibly even water in the near future. I suppose if one does not want to pick a fight with an enemy one can always pick a fight with a friend. It’s safer that way.

Media-created Obamaphoria

Another ploy used by would-be dictators is the Cult of Personality. Remember Moa Tse-tung in China? Huge pictures of him were pasted everywhere. His thoughts were published; his every move followed, his every speech praised. It was incessant. Sound familiar?

This is standard fare from the Guide to Being a Dictator. They can do no wrong. They are compared to great leaders of the past. Come to think of it, is Obama not being hailed as a reincarnation of Abraham Lincoln? Can you recall any other president who got more fawning media exposure than President Obama? He is seen in hamburger shops like an ordinary guy. He fires people in private industry. He walks on water. If you disagree you’re a scummy racist deserving of death.

His wife Michelle is being portrayed as a powerhouse of everything stylish; exceptional mother (move over Mother Theresa) concerned about the lesser being around her and is everything an American woman should aspire to be. The kids are pictured as upper intelligent, beautiful, fashion savvy and dog-friendly while still just your average American kids.

With all the evidence floating around out there as to the Obama agenda, it surprises me that more Americans are not waking up and smelling the coffee. Yes, many are. There are signs of it everywhere in the new media. Warnings about Obama’s intentions were publicized before the last election but the media-created Obamaphoria overwhelmed common sense and what little scepticism actually reached the voting public.

One last point. During the election campaign Obama rode into the White House on the mantra of Change/Yes We Can. Who knew what that meant? Change what, who? We can what? Change? Change can be good, bad or indifferent. Again, another deceitful practice. Sound like you are promising something that you are not. Tell people what they want to hear. But then, nobody dared call him on it. They were all too busy chanting.

And it’s really too bad, because a long and difficult road lies ahead for those who are brave enough, conscious enough and incensed enough to reverse the direction in which the American people are being deceived into taking.

Media Malfeasance

Media Malfeasance:
Question: If news isn’t reported, is it still news? Not according to the old media. The old axiom, ‘If it bleeds, it leads’, is still operative in most newsrooms around the country. Good news, if reported at all, is merely an afterthought.

For the savvy news consumer, good news is recognized mainly through its absence. Just last week, headlines across the country reported the dire predictions of the World Health Organization - the swine flu, oops, the H1N1 virus, was ‘a grave threat to humanity’. A major pandemic is imminent and we’re (again) on the brink of catastrophe.

The threat was so dire, it required the president of the greatest country in the world (that’s America, for you Obama voters) to appear, once again, on national TV to advise all citizens to wash their hands. Lost in the lockstep reporting of the old media, was the fact that, gee, many ‘experts’ were claiming that this dangerous flu strain was no more severe than the normal flu strain.

The pandemic failed to materialize, prompting headlines warning of ‘complacency.’ It appears the WHO, the Obama administration and the liberal media were, well, wrong. Swine flu deaths: App 12. Unreported, was the fact that regular flu deaths (in 2006) were 56,000.

The reigning political elite that now rule our country have officially branded most conservative views as ‘fringe’ views held by ‘extremists’, validating a viewpoint held for decades by the old media. Thus journalists no longer feel the need to report on issues of concern to the 62 million Americans who didn’t vote for Obama. Their concerns are officially irrelevant. Case closed.

The majority of Americans realize the liberal bent of the old media. Most can identify opinion pieces that are increasingly presented as news, but they have to resort to the net or talk radio in order to be made aware of all the good news which is deliberately relegated to the back burner in the (remaining) newspapers and nightly news broadcasts.

"Recent polls show shrinking support for new gun control measures and strong public sentiment for enforcing existing laws instead.

A new national poll suggests that a majority of Americans oppose legalizing same sex marriages.

Seventy-seven percent (77%) of U.S. voters say that they prefer a free market economy over a government-managed economy. That’s up seven points since December.

A new poll conducted by Pew Research finds the support for legal abortions has dropped to its lowest level in 15 years.

For just the second time in more than five years of daily or weekly tracking, Republicans now lead Democrats in the latest edition of the Generic Congressional Ballot.

These items are no longer considered news by the media elite. Not only does the old media purposefully downplay any news item that challenges their lock-step liberal world view, news organizations have taken increasing latitude with the news they do choose to report."

An Example of Obama’s ‘Stimulus’ That Isn’t

An Example of Obama’s ‘Stimulus’ That Isn’t: "If we need no other example of why government can’t “stimulate” an economy, we have but to look at the use to which the city of Akron, Ohio wants to put some of its “stimulus” money. Akron, it seems, wants to spend some of that money for suicide prevention. Oh, not a general suicide prevention program that might at least employ people. No, Akron wants to build a fence on a bridge that seems to emit a siren call for jumpers to prevent them from killing themselves."

‘Hate Crimes’ Bill is Full of Swill

‘Hate Crimes’ Bill is Full of Swill: "Senate sponsors and liberal activist proponents of the federal “hate crimes” bill, S. 909, have been caught in a series of bald-faced lies. So confident am I of this, that if they can prove me wrong (for real I mean – you know, with evidence and such) I’ll join their little soirĂ©e, don a very large pink evening gown and publicly voice support for the legislation.

To the express exclusion of other identifiable groups – including veterans, the elderly and the homeless – S. 909, in its current form, would grant special federal resources and preferred minority status to pedophiles, homosexuals, cross-dressers and – as Democratic sponsor Alcee Hastings recently admitted on the House floor – a host of other APA recognized “sexual orientations” (i.e., deviant sexual fetishes and perversions)."

Taliban Islamists Nearing Pakistani Nukes - Defense/Middle East - Israel News - Israel National News

Taliban Islamists Nearing Pakistani Nukes - Defense/Middle East - Israel News - Israel National News: "“History indicates that Iran is… a rational nation,” Ellis argues, while “the Taliban and Al Qaida are brutally irrational and will not hesitate to use weapons of mass destruction against Israel. Thus, the Taliban/Al Qaeda nuclear threat dwarfs any imaginary Iranian threat. The international community, including Iran and Israel, must collaborate to reduce this symbolic and real threat, which could affect any nation. The international community cannot afford to commit another Bushism, expending war resources on the wrong threat. The United States needs a coalition of nations to confront the looming potential of a nuclear Taliban/Al Qaida and cannot afford any more distractions in the Middle East.”"

“The immediate danger is heightened exponentially by Pakistan being one of the world’s eight nuclear powers,” columnist Joel Hilliker writes, “possessing between 60 and 100 nukes, scattered throughout the country. Amid escalating chaos, some of those bombs are sure to slip into extremist Muslim hands. Though the United States and others talk about preventing this scenario, they simply aren’t willing to take measures forceful enough. Signs are, in fact, that the Obama administration is beginning to realize this is a losing cause.”

Pakistan's Taliban terrorists have, in fact, advanced beyond their stronghold in the Swat district and along the border with Afghanistan to within 100 kilometers northwest of the Pakistani capital, Islamabad.

To think that the nuclear arsenal of Pakistan is secure is reckless at the least.

Obama Budget Rescinds Oil, Gas Industry Tax Breaks - NYTimes.com

Obama Budget Rescinds Oil, Gas Industry Tax Breaks - NYTimes.com: "WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama wants to end $26 billion in oil and gas industry tax breaks, calling them ''unjustifiable loopholes'' in the tax system that other companies do not get.

Obama's proposed fiscal 2010 budget, details of which were released Thursday, also more clearly spells out his intention to shut down a proposed nuclear waste dump at Yucca Mountain in Nevada and calls for ending a government subsidy that helps utilities license and plan for new nuclear power plants.

The oil and gas industry tax breaks have often been targeted by congressional Democrats in recent years, but they have not been able to muster enough votes to rescind them. Most Republicans and the Bush administration vigorously defended the tax benefits, saying they're needed to boost domestic oil and gas development."

Guess who will be paying more for oil and gas now people? We will.
How is that big tax break working out for all the people who voted for Obama doing? Is that $8-12 dollars you get every week going to make up for the $26,000,000,000.00 we will now have to pay for for oil and gas?

he said he would do it but no one listened.
Just wait until he does even worse to the coal industry and he has promised and makes coal unaffordable. But you may not think that applies to you, until you try to use electricity that is. Then you will see how much that skyrockets in price as well.

Mexico drug war: Sinaloa cartel may resort to deadly force in U.S. - Los Angeles Times

Mexico drug war: Sinaloa cartel may resort to deadly force in U.S. - Los Angeles Times: "Authorities say Joaquin 'El Chapo' Guzman, the reputed leader of the Mexican cartel, has given his associates the OK, if necessary, to open fire across the border.

Reporting from Sells, Ariz. -- The reputed head of Mexico's Sinaloa drug cartel is threatening a more aggressive stance against competitors and law enforcement north of the border, instructing associates to use deadly force, if needed, to protect increasingly contested trafficking operations, authorities said."

The American Spectator : Is Obama Delaying Economic Recovery?

The American Spectator : Is Obama Delaying Economic Recovery?: "By now, the current recession is officially the longest since World War II. The National Bureau of Economic Research dates the recession as starting some time during December, 2007. The longest recession since World War II was 16 months, with the average being 10 months. By today, the current recession has clearly lasted more than 16 months.

Which raises the question, are President Obama's economic policies promoting recovery, or delaying it? Why is this the longest recession since World War II? That is a period of almost 65 years! Would other economic policies better promote economic growth?

Still No Recovery

Yes, there are signs that the economy is finally struggling out of its torpor. But the point is that the recovery is now officially overdue. It shouldn't just be showing signs of recovery. A full recovery should now be in full swing, given the historical record of the last 65 years!"

ThreatsWatch.Org: RapidRecon: Drug Tunnels - A Threat to Security

ThreatsWatch.Org: RapidRecon: Drug Tunnels - A Threat to Security: "The similarities are actually pretty striking. Both in Mexico and in Israel, underground tunnels present a significant challenge to law enforcement officials and security forces. What is actually most striking is the sudden attention being paid to the tunnels under the U.S.-Mexican border when their existence has been known since the 1990's (or before) and their sophistication has continued to evolve. The current issue of Time Magazine describes this growing threat.

As above ground border defenses and patrols get tougher, that subterranean vulnerability is becoming a growing problem. Since 2001, more than 100 tunnels have been discovered by U.S. law enforcement, compared with just 15 in the 1990s, and the pace is accelerating. Most of those have been uncovered through human intelligence, since there are no currently available technical means to reliably detect tunnels."

The Seven Myths Liberals Want You to Believe About American Health Care (But You Aren’t Buying) - HUMAN EVENTS

The Seven Myths Liberals Want You to Believe About American Health Care (But You Aren’t Buying) - HUMAN EVENTS: "To hear liberals in Congress tell the story, the American health care system is crumbling before our very eyes, the unwashed masses are desperate for a solution, and only the United States government can save us. But a recent poll of 1,200 registered U.S. voters provides a striking contrast between voter attitudes toward health care reform and some oft-repeated myths being pushed in media and on Capitol Hill.

Here’s a look at seven of the most common myths, versus what American voters actually think:"

Myth #1: Americans are clamoring for health care reform.
They aren’t. Only 5% of voters cite health care as either the top issue facing the country, as the biggest problem facing their daily lives or even as the greatest fear they have for themselves or their families. In fact when given a specific list of issues to choose from, health care comes in far behind the top concerns of 95% of American voters.

Myth #2: The U.S. Health Care system needs a complete overhaul.
Says who? Not American voters. Slightly more voters (47%) say that our health care system can be fixed with some minor reforms versus those who say it needs a radical overhaul (44%).

Myth #3: Coverage for the uninsured is the major problem facing the U.S. Health Care system.
By nearly a 3 to 1 margin, these voters see rising health care and health insurance costs as the biggest problem over too many being without insurance coverage. While government takeover advocates are fond of talking about millions of uninsured Americans, they generally fail to mention that many of those are uninsured by choice, or only temporarily uninsured. Yet this single misleading statistic remains a favorite of Congressional liberals as they make the case for a government takeover.

Myth #4: Government, not free market competition, is the best way to reduce health care costs.
Again, false. Clear majorities say that MORE competition among health care providers will do more to lower costs than increased government involvement. Further, pluralities believe that increased government involvement will cause health care costs and insurance premiums to go up. Americans undoubtedly feel this way because there are few (if any) examples where government involvement in any endeavor, let alone health care, actually caused prices to go down.

Myth #5: Americans are more open/accepting of government-run health care solution.
A clear and strong majority of voters prefer a private run health care system over a government-run system. Fully 55% of American voters say, if given the choice, they would opt for a private health care solution over a government solution. Only 37% would opt for a government takeover of health care.

Myth #6: Americans understand we must sacrifice to ensure coverage for all.
When pitted head to head, large majorities of voters (69%) choose a private run health care system that doesn’t cover all Americans, but protects everyone’s fundamental right to make their own health care choices, over a government-run system that covers everyone but restricts certain health care options (18%).

Myth #7: Americans want a health care system more like Canada and/or Great Britain.
Voters have mixed opinions about the Canadian and British health care systems with a sizeable number not having a firm opinion on either. But, more than 3 in 4 voters say they would most prefer to get treatment or health care services here in the U.S. over either Canada or Great Britain.

Contrary to the conventional wisdom in Washington, voters are NOT willing to commit to a radical overhaul of our health care system. They are clearly suspicious of more government involvement and think it won’t drive down costs -- which is their biggest complaint about the current health care system. A clear and large majority still prefer a private-run over a government-run system. Moreover, when faced with the potential choice of giving up their fundamental health care rights to ensure universal coverage, majorities are unwilling to do so.

In sharp contrast to these myths, American voters enthusiastically rally around the basic reform principles promoted by Conservatives for Patients’ Rights -- Choice, Competition, Accountability and Personal Responsibility, by overwhelming margins. For example, 87% of voters believe individuals should receive the same tax breaks as employers when buying health insurance. An astounding 97% want the freedom to choose their own doctor without restriction from government or insurance plans. And 87% of Americans want health care providers and doctors to publicly post their prices so they can shop and compare.

As the health care debate continues, it is clear that Americans overwhelmingly demand free market health care. As others continue to push myths, Conservatives for Patients’ Rights will continue to educate Americans on the real agenda of Congressional health care reform, promote our key principles and serve as an early warning system against more government boards and power grabs.

Mr. Scott is a healthcare entreprenuer and chairman of Conservatives For Patients' Rights which is founded on the belief that meaningful health care reform focuses on lowering health care costs and improving health care access

Please let us not forget that if the government institutes this mess of health care that there will not be enough doctors to handle the sudden addition of so many people.

This means rationed health care.

The government already concluded that it can only save 1% on health care costs, but they have not factored in the fact that doctors are not taking new Medicaid patients in record numbers because of poor payment records and being forced to make less money. They will have to eventually pay doctors more money if they want them to take care of people period, which will eliminate that 1% savings and end up actually costing more.

To save money, the government will have to do cost effective analysis on every patient procedure and the patients themselves. This will take time, time that will be ticking away on patients who need emergency surgery for things such as cancer. While the government determines if the cancer treatment is cost effective for that individual and the doctor awaits authorization for that procedure the patient becomes worse.

Of course we can and certainly will run into those people who are not cost effective to treat. Those who are old that need costly surgeries or drugs will not get them, well because they are going to die soon anyway by statistics. This is what happens in the UK and Canada along with so many other places that have socialized medicine.

That is why people come here from all over the world to get medical treatment. But that will end soon as well. Do you think that you will leave here and go elsewhere to get medical treatment if the government does not allow it for you? Not if they follow Canada’s rule which makes leaving Canada to go for procedures that you can not get there to the United States a felony.

Allow different insurance companies across the nation to compete for the business of every American. Allow tax credits if the prices don’t go down through normal economic competition, which it will. Companies will try to provide more and better services to compete with other companies at better cost’s just to stay in business. It is the nature of our system. But allowing government to step in and control health care is just insane.

They can not even handle social security at this point. Six states have cut back on social security benefits for elderly and disabled people because of budget restraints this year. Yet they want you to believe that they can handle EVERY American’s health care properly?

America we need real answers, not what we are being given which is false hope, lots of double talk, more taxes, less services bigger government and less representation.

Townhall.com Blog : Michele Bachmann : A Pattern of Voter Registration Fraud

Townhall.com Blog : Michele Bachmann : A Pattern of Voter Registration Fraud: "A Pattern of Voter Registration Fraud"

Posted by: Michele Bachmann at 12:12 PM In my last couple of posts, I've told you about how last Thursday the House Financial Services Committee unanimously accepted my amendment to keep tax dollars from flowing to organizations indicted for voter fraud. As you may remember, Committee Chairman Barney Frank later decided that he wants to raise the bar so that an organization would have to be convicted of voter fraud – not just indicted – before we turn off the flow of tax dollars. Later today, the House will begin debate on the underlying legislation, the Mortgage Reform and Anti-Predatory Lending Act, and I expect that Chairman Frank will try to strip my taxpayer protection amendment from the bill.

Yesterday, I posted a link to an Associated Press report detailing how Nevada authorities have filed criminal charges against ACORN and two former employees for voter registration fraud.

However, this is not the first time ACORN has made the headlines for their questionable voter registration practices.

  • A voter registration worker for ACORN in East St. Louis was indicted on two counts of voter fraud for submitting forged cards for residents at nursing homes without their knowledge. - KSDK, 1/09

  • “A suburban Philadelphia man is charged with forgery, allegedly altering 18 voter-registration applications during his employment with an organization [ACORN] whose voter-outreach efforts have become a flashpoint in the presidential campaign.” – Associated Press, 10/23/08

  • “Clifton Mitchell helped register nearly 2,000 voters for the community group ACORN. But not one of them actually existed… Mitchell was convicted last year and spent nearly three months in prison.” – CNN, 10/22/08

  • “An internal report by a lawyer for the community organizing group Acorn raises questions about whether the web of relationships among its 174 affiliates may have led to violations of federal laws… The June 18 report, written by Elizabeth Kingsley, a Washington lawyer, spells out her concerns about potentially improper use of charitable dollars for political purposes; money transfers among the affiliates; and potential conflicts created by employees working for multiple affiliates, among other things.” – New York Times, 10/22/08

According to the Economist in October of 2008 leading up to the Presidential election:

"In Orlando, home to the Magic Kingdom of Disney, Mickey Mouse tried to register. In Indiana there was an application from a sandwich shop called Jimmy Johns. Authorities in Nevada were surprised to receive voter registration forms from the starting line-up of the Dallas Cowboys.

"All these applications were provided by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), a group that works to register low-income voters. ACORN has been industrious this year, signing up 1.3m voters in 21 states according to its own tallies. But they have run into some trouble; thousands of their voter-registration applications are fakes. In Connecticut a seven-year-old girl applied. A man in Ohio admitted he had signed up with organizers more than 70 times in exchange for cash and cigarettes. In one county in Indiana ACORN turned in 5,000 applications, 2,100 of which were quickly identified as fakes."

Examples abound.

The threshold for gaining taxpayer funding should not be so low. An organization that is repeatedly under suspicion of fraud and criminal activities should rightfully be held from accessing your money.

ACORN was supposed to register voters. But they since have become a democratic voting machine. they do not support republicans at all, not even people like Arlin Specter who is a closet liberal.

Now a lot of people get ojn me about ACORn being a great group. At one time it ws, all it is now is thugs who comit criminal acts with government dollars collected by taxpayers.
there were eight people who headed ACRORN at one time who state that they were ousted because they found that ACORN had been hijacked and was doing wrong.
They are convionced that ACORN is now being run by people who engage in voter fraud and improper actions. They are known as the ACORN 8 and their mission statement is:

ACORN 8’s purpose is simple: reforming the community activist group known as ACORN. We're not here to participate in rhetoric or mudslinging. Our one and only goal is to stop the systematic fraud and corruption going on inside the leadership of ACORN.

How?

First and foremost, we will use this website to post evidence of ACORN fraud and corruption. We're going to provide you with an entire library of documents, pictures, videos, and links to outside sources to back up our claims.

Please support their efforts and make ACORN what it should be or do away with it alltogether and stop taxpayer funding of this democratic machine fixing scheme.

Alains Newsletter: Enough Change Already

Alains Newsletter: Enough Change Already: "Fanatical anti-gun Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) is sponsoring S.B. 843 calling for background checks on all gun sales in America to include gun shows."

Armand C. Hale

Obama & Co. have been throwing so much change at American, the average citizen can’t keep their heads above it all. This is more than anyone wanted or could have every imagined in this country. Here is just a small amount of “change” that the new kid at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is fostering:

Fanatical anti-gun Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) is sponsoring S.B. 843 calling for background checks on all gun sales in America to include gun shows.

Senators Jay Rockefeller, (D-W.V.), Olympia Snowe, (R-Maine), and Bill Nelson, (D-Fla) introduced the Cyber Security Act of 2009. It would give the U.S. Government authority over all networks considered part of the nation's critical infrastructure. Under the proposal, Obama would have the authority to shut down Internet traffic to protect national security.

Representatives’ John Conyers (D-MI) and Mark Kirk (R-IL) introduced the so-called Hate Crimes bill, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009, H.R. 1913. The Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution guarantees equal protection under the law. Hate crimes legislation is a violation of the Fourteenth Amendment in that it elevates one class of citizen based upon their sexual behaviors above other people. The bill passed in the House by 249-175, and came despite intense Republican opposition to the creation of the privileged class.

The administration is considering $900 million dollars for swine flu research. Spending more money than we have is not a recipe for success in a family budget or a national budget. Stop supporting special interests and government handouts, start supporting the voters who pay taxes and who sent you to D.C.

The American Center for Law & Justice (ACLJ) reports at least three major groups, the ACLU, Americans United (AU), and the Military Religious Freedom Foundation are pushing to ban prayers in Jesus' name by our military chaplains. The ACLU has actually threatened a federal lawsuit against the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis over the 160-year tradition of voluntary grace offered before meals there. They're insisting that the Naval Academy cut off prayer.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) headed by Janet Napolitano issued a report profiling and targeting veterans, Americans opposed to the social policies of Obama, abortion, same sex marriages, restrictions on firearms ownership and one world government as “rightwing extremists and potential domestic terrorists”.

Sec. of State Hillary Clinton promises the U.S. will spread abortion around the world, most likely paid for by U.S. taxpayers of America.

Obama will appoint federal Judge David Hamilton, former fundraiser for ACORN and former leader of the Indiana chapter of the ACLU who issued controversial rulings banning public prayers offered in Jesus name and hastening the abortion of unborn children, to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. He was rated as not qualified by the American Bar Association.

Americas for Legal Immigration (ALPAC) reports the so called Dream Act amnesty bill is making its way to Congress. ALPAC called Congress for special hearings to demand that our borders be secured and to give our health care professionals and scientists as much time as we can to get ahead of the Mexican Swine Flu problem.

Over 80% of the failing car company General Motors (GM) will be owned by the United Auto Workers (UAW) union and the American taxpayer. The Administration and Congress should not ignore the voice and concerns of thousands of average Americans, taxpayers, seniors and retirees who hold a significant portion of their retirement savings in GM bonds. These people will fall victim in the current fight of this Administration and the UAW versus the big banks over GM.

On April 21, the Inspector General’s (IG) report documents the stunning and at least partly illegal expansion of the TARP program from the $700 Billion allocated by Congress to what is now a Three Trillion dollar complex of programs. The IG notes that some of these programs are still developing. Three Trillion is by no means a final number!

Arlen Specter's defection gives Democrats 59 senate seats. If Al Franken is seated as Minnesota’s senator, any and all socialist policies will pass with a 60 vote filibuster proof senate!

Can you imagine it’s only been 100 days? How many additional “100 days" can American’s taxpayer afford along with a one party ruling Ă©lite? Time for a “gigantic” tea party, now!

Newsmax.com - U.S. Importing Somali 'Pirate-Jihadists'

Newsmax.com - U.S. Importing Somali 'Pirate-Jihadists': "The Obama administration is preparing to reinstate a fraud-riddled immigration program that has brought over 36,000 Somalis into the United States under questionable circumstances, including two dozen Minneapolis men that the FBI fears may be planning a terrorist attack.

The FBI has launched an “aggressive” manhunt for the men, who have “gone to ground” and have mysteriously disappeared, terrorism experts tell Newsmax. Authorities fear the men may have been recruited by extremists to carry out suicide attacks inside the United States, or abroad.

Critics of the State Department programs that brought the Somalis to America express grave concerns about the practice of admitting refugees from failed nation-states known to harbor extremists. It can be difficult or impossible to verify a person’s identity in such a country, let alone obtain knowledge of their past associations, several experts tell Newsmax."

Will Americans Ever Wake Up?

Will Americans Ever Wake Up?: "RUSH: Bank of America needs $34 billion. Wells Fargo needs $15 billion. They didn't even want TARP money. All of these banks -- and these are not stress tests. You have to look at these stress tests as possess tests. They're leaking all this information about the banks, and guess what? The banks are all still in the crapper. And so guess what? We need more federal involvement in the banks; Obama gets to control the banks for a little while longer. You wonder when people are going to wake up and realize what's going on, and then you see the following stories and you say they're not going to wake up. I just saw this, an AP story. Get this. 'A group that studies sports in society is urging the Obama administration to step up the federal government’s role in athletics, possibly with a Cabinet-level post,' on sports. We know he runs around doing his own brackets in the NCAA basketball tournament."

Obama's Gitmo Mess - WSJ.com

Obama's Gitmo Mess - WSJ.com: "On his second day in office, President Obama ordered the Pentagon to mothball Guantanamo within one year, purportedly to reclaim the 'moral high ground.' That earned applause from the anti-antiterror squadrons, yet it is now causing all kinds of practical and political problems in what used to be known as the war on terror.

his mess grew even more chaotic this week, when Democrats refused the Administration's $50 million budget request to transfer some of the remaining 241 Gitmo detainees to a prison likely to be somewhere in the U.S. and perhaps to a new one built with taxpayer dollars. "What do we do with the 50 to 100 -- probably in that ballpark -- who we cannot release and cannot try?" Defense Secretary Robert Gates recently asked Congress."

Recovery.gov now lists programs being funded by the stimulus money, but provides no details on who received the grants and contracts. McAfee Report: Bot Infections Jump 50 Percent Over Last Year - DarkReading: "The number of bot-infected machines has jumped nearly 50 percent over last year, with the U.S. now home to the most zombies in the world, according to a new McAfee report released today.

And the Conficker worm -- which grabbed mainstream media attention last month -- is not a major factor in the bot infection counts nor overall infections, with Conficker infections accounting for only about one percent of all virus detections in the first quarter of this year, according to David Marcus, director of security research for McAfee.

McAfee Avert Labs found 12 million new IP addresses performing bot operations in the first quarter, according to the report, but spam activity still has not caught up to its level prior to the McColo takedown last November. 'The activity level of new zombies indicates that the spammers are working hard to regain the infrastructure lost and that volumes will return to previous levels sometime soon,' the report says.

The U.S. has 18 percent of all bot-infected machines, up from 15.4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2008, surpassing China, which now has 13.4 percent, down from 15.8 percent in Q4 '08. A new hotspot for zombies is Australia, which now has 6 percent of all bots, up from 4 percent in the fourth quarter, and below 2 percent"

Mild flu could hit harder in the fall -- baltimoresun.com: "The number of swine flu cases in Mexico is stabilizing. In the U.S., though more people are being diagnosed with the virus, cases have been mostly mild, claiming two lives. And health officials have backed off on closing schools where students are sick.

It may seem as though the threat of the virus known as H1N1 has lessened. But infectious disease experts and public health officials agree: The worst is likely still to come. In pandemics of the past, flu that arrived in the spring hit harder come fall, when influenza season returned.

'If you were just to bet on the odds, you would bet H1N1 would abate in the summer and return in the winter,' said Dr. William Schaffner, chairman of preventive medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Tennessee.

'The illness produced, so far, is really quite mild. But the question would be - as it circulates among humans in the Southern Hemisphere [in their winter flu season] - could it pick up a virulence gene ... that is capable of producing severe disease?"

Study: Corn-based Biofuel Costs 50 Gallons of Water per Mile | Environmental Protection

Study: Corn-based Biofuel Costs 50 Gallons of Water per Mile | Environmental Protection: "Federal requirements to increase the production of ethanol has developed into a 'drink-or-drive issue' in the Midwest as a result of biofuel production’s impact on water supplies and water quality, says an environmental engineering researcher at Missouri University of Science and Technology in the latest issue of the journalEnvironmental Science & Technology.

In an analysis of the water required to produce ethanol from various crops, Joel G. Burken, Ph.D., a professor of environmental engineering at Missouri S&T, and colleagues from Rice University and Clarkson University find that ethanol could become a costly proposition in terms of 'gallons per mile' and other water quality issues. They describe the Midwest’s water needs and impacts as the 'water footprint' in the cover feature for the May 1 issue of Environmental Science & Technology.

The researchers report that ethanol derived from corn grown in Nebraska, for example, would require 50 gallons of water per mile driven, when all the water needed in irrigation of crops and processing into ethanol is considered. Fuel derived from irrigated sorghum grown in that state would require even more water to produce—as much as 115 gallons per mile."

Not to mention the fact that the price of corn will rise dramatically. Thus feeding cattle will be more expensive, driving the cost of beef up .. and the list goes on and on and on.

Watching MSNBC is torture: "To claim that the Japanese – architects of the Bataan Death March – were prosecuted for 'waterboarding' would be like saying Ted Bundy was executed for engaging in sexual harassment."

The Japanese "water cure" was to "waterboarding" as practiced at Guantanamo what rape at knifepoint is to calling your secretary "honey."

The Japanese version of "waterboarding" was to fill the prisoner's stomach with water until his stomach was distended – and then pound on his stomach, causing the prisoner to vomit.

Or they would jam a stick into the prisoner's nose so he could breathe only through his mouth and then pour water in his mouth so he would choke to death.

Or they would "waterboard" the prisoner with saltwater, which would kill him.

We can not afford health care for America. What it will bring is managed care, not health care. It will be managed by the government and decide who gets health care.

Doctors will not be around to do this. They will make less money and it won't be worth going through medical school. This will work these people to the bone. many will quit. Many already will not get involved with Medicare because the government does not pay them.

Sure people ant it, but it will not work. Sick people will be rationed like they are in Canada and The United Kingdom. Older people will not be worth saving because it is not cost effective.

This is going to be a big mess. STOP IT NOW!

CNSNews.com - Criminal Charges Against ACORN Raise Concerns About Its Partnership With Census Bureau

CNSNews.com - Criminal Charges Against ACORN Raise Concerns About Its Partnership With Census Bureau: "(CNSNews.com) – Criminal charges filed in Nevada against ACORN, a liberal activist group that is under investigation in several other states for alleged voter registration fraud in 2008, have sparked increased concerns about the organization’s partnership agreement with the U.S. Census Bureau to help recruit workers for the 2010 Census.

ACORN, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, is among 281 non-profit groups and 111 corporations that have signed partnership agreements with the Census Bureau as of April 13. Those partners will help provide 1.4 million workers to conduct door-to-door operations. (See Partner List)

“The Bureau needs to reconsider ACORN’s involvement as a partner in light of these new charges in Nevada,” Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), a member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, told CNSNews.com.

“I previously spoke about ACORN’s involvement in the Census,” said McHenry. “But in light of these charges, I think it makes clear that they should not be part of the partnership program with the Census.”

On Monday, the state of Nevada filed charges against ACORN that are related to the manner in which organization compensated workers who were collecting voter registrations. (See Nevada Attorney General Announcement)

“By structuring employment and compensation around a quota system, ACORN facilitated voter registration fraud in this state,” said Attorney General Catherine Cortes Masto in a statement. “Nevada will not tolerate violations of the law by individuals, nor will it allow corporations to hide behind or place blame on their employees when its training manuals clearly detail, condone and, indeed, require, illegal acts in performing the job for the corporation.”

The Nevada charges will not play a role in the group’s work with the Census Bureau, ACORN spokesman David Redlener told CNSNews.com.

In a written statement, he said that ACORN would primarily be responsible for “mailings and other in-house communications; displaying and/or distributing 2010 Census promotional materials; providing space to train new employees; sponsoring community events to promote participation in the Census; allowing the Census bureau to post ACORN’s name on the 2010 Census Web site; [and] linking 2010 Census Web site to ACORN’s Web site.”

Redlener further said the organization does not know if it will receive any federal funds for its partnership.

The constitutionally required Census is done every 10 years and determines how congressional seats are apportioned among the states. Unlike in 2000, Congress has not authorized a bipartisan U.S. Census Monitoring Board to oversee the 2010 enumeration.

“There needs to be proper oversight of this and I’m going to be very involved in insuring that we have proper oversight of this process and that it is an apolitical enumeration and a true count of all of those in our country,” McHenry said.

ACORN’s role is “alarming,” said Ken Blackwell, who was national chairman of the U.S. Census Monitoring Board from 1998 to 2001.

“They have a record riddled with improprieties,” Blackwell told CNSNews.com. “There is no bipartisan oversight and management of the census. It could lead folks to seriously question the integrity and objectivity of the census.”

However, ACORN should not be banned from partnering with the Census Bureau, as community groups are typically necessary in helping the government count people, Blackwell said.

“There is always an army of paid employees and volunteers that need to be there,” he said. “My concern is that an organization that made up people through false voter registration -- a reasonable person would suspect they would do the same in the Census count. Does that mean bar ACORN across the country? No. It does mean we need transparency and bipartisan oversight.”

The Census Bureau could not answer questions specifically on ACORN Tuesday, but a spokesman stressed that there is adequate oversight.

“In the partnership program, all the organizations do is help raise awareness about the Census,” Bureau spokesman Raul Cisneros told CNSNews.com. “Congress has oversight of the bureau and the census.”

The Nevada probe began last year when the Clark County registrar of voters, Harvard “Larry” Lomax, received numerous voter registration applications that appeared to be fraudulent. The forms were identified by the serial numbers on the application as those issued to ACORN for registering new voters. The Clark County registrar’s office filed a complaint with the secretary of state’s office.

In Nevada, throughout 2008, ACORN paid canvassers between $8 and $9 per hour to
register voters. The canvassers had to sign up 20 voters per shift or be terminated, a policy that was outlined in the training materials for ACORN, according to the Nevada attorney general’s Office.

From July through October, ACORN had a “Blackjack” program that provided a $5 per hour bonus for employees who registered 21 or more voters per shift.

“Nevada will not tolerate violations of the law by individuals nor will it allow corporations to hide behind or place blame on their employees when its training manuals clearly detail, condone and, indeed, require illegal acts in performing the job for the corporation,” Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto said in a statement.

Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller stressed, “It’s important to keep in mind that this was a case of registration fraud, not voter fraud.”

Monday, ACORN spokesman Scott Levenson denied the charges. “Our policy all along has been to pay workers at an hourly rate and to not pay employees based on any bonus or incentive program,” he told the Associated Press.

Washington State filed charges in 2007 against several paid ACORN employees and supervisors for allegedly falsifying 1,700 voter registration forms. In 2008, a Pennsylvania ACORN employee was convicted for fabricating 29 voter registration forms.

These examples were cited in a Mar. 24 letter from Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) to President Barack Obama. (See Shelby letter)

“Past allegations of fraud should raise great concern about the accuracy of data provided by this organization,” Shelby wrote.

“To keep the census non-partisan, we cannot allow a biased, politically active organization taking any type of official role in the process, let alone recruitment,” said Shelby.

“Using ACORN to mobilize hundreds of thousands of temporary workers can surely lead to abuses for those who want to gain political advantage, just as we saw with the voter registration issues in past elections. The laws that govern voter fraud were not enough to dissuade those with the intent to throw an election, and it is doubtful that laws governing fraud in the census will be any more effective against such deceitful intents.”

The Census became a controversial issue this year when news surfaced that the Obama administration allegedly planned to move oversight of the national headcount from the Commerce Department to the White House. After complaints that led in part to Sen. Judd Gregg (R-N.H.) not accepting the Commerce Secretary position, the White House dropped the plan."

Sweetheart Deal for a Terrorist by Andrew C. McCarthy on National Review Online

Sweetheart Deal for a Terrorist by Andrew C. McCarthy on National Review Online: "So why wasn’t al-Marri charged with major terrorism offenses? The conduct to which he admitted, coupled with what the government says it was in a position to prove, would clearly have supported multiple life counts, the appropriate sentence for a would-be mass murderer, a key operative of a ruthless network with which the United States is currently at war. Not only was al-Marri charged with only two material-support counts and permitted to plead guilty to only one of them; the New York Times reports that the Justice Department nearly let him plead out to less than that—portraying Holder as sternly holding out for “at least a 15-year sentence.” Yet, even that is not true: The sentence will at most be 15 years, and Holder has expressly agreed that al-Marri may argue to the judge that he should receive a lighter sentence, as little as the time he has already served.

The terrorism cases of the 1990s would have been a lot shorter if we had been willing to plead them out on the cheap. Under the “Thornburgh Memo,” however, the Justice Department’s standard approach to all cases was to charge the most severe readily-provable offense, and in terrorism cases—given the added national-security threat involved—the practice was to throw the book at defendants, to make certain they were taken out of commission permanently, or as close to permanently as the statutes allowed. If defendants wanted to plead guilty, they were told these were the terms for pleading guilty—and if they wanted to fight it out, we would see them in court for trial.

The Obama administration has already outright released, with no trial, Binyam Mohammed, an al-Qaeda operative who, like al-Marri, was assigned by KSM to carry out mass-murder attacks in the United States after 9/11. Now, al-Marri has been given a plea agreement that grossly undersells the grave seriousness of his war crimes. If Holder’s objective was to demonstrate that George W. Bush was wrong to detain al-Marri as an enemy combatant and that the criminal-justice system “works,” this sweetheart deal suggests the opposite.

Jihadists were not impressed by our strategy of fighting them in the courtroom through the 1990s. But at least they knew the few of them we managed to apprehend and indict got slammed. I wonder what they’re thinking now."

Trickle-Down Corruption by Jonah Goldberg on National Review Online

Trickle-Down Corruption by Jonah Goldberg on National Review Online: "Some days you have to ask yourself: My God, what if these people were Republicans?

Democrats took back Congress in 2006 and the presidency in 2008 in no small part because of their ability to bang their spoons on their high chairs about what they called the Republican “culture of corruption.” Their choreographed outrage was coordinated with the precision of a North Korean missile-launch pageant. And, to be fair, they had a point. The GOP did have its legitimate embarrassments. California Rep. Randy “Duke” Cunningham and lobbyist Jack Abramoff were fair game, and so was Rep. Mark Foley, the twisted Florida congressman who allegedly wanted male congressional pages cleaned and perfumed and brought to his tent, as it were.

Of course, it wasn’t as if Democrats were without sin. Louisiana Rep. William Jefferson was indicted on fraud, bribery, and corruption charges in 2007, after an investigation unearthed, among other things, $90,000 in his freezer. Then–New York governor Eliot Spitzer was busted in a prostitution scandal.

But that’s all yesterday’s news. Let’s look at the here and now. Barack Obama, who vowed he’d provide a transparent administration staffed with disinterested public servants with the self-restraint of Roman castrati, appointed an admitted tax cheat to run the Treasury Department — and he’s hardly the only one in the administration.

New York representative Charles Rangel, chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, is under investigation for, among other things, failing to report income from his Caribbean villa. Meanwhile, Sen. Christopher Dodd, chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, got sweetheart deals from subprime lender Countrywide and has yet to adequately explain his too-good-to-be-true deal on his million-dollar “cottage” in Ireland, which he may have gotten in exchange for finagling a pardon (from President Clinton) for a felon. Oh, Dodd also secretly protected those AIG bonuses that raised such a ruckus.

Rep. Jack Murtha of Pennsylvania, Nancy Pelosi’s moral authority on military matters during the Iraq war, has been revealed as a kleptomaniac of sorts, delivering as much of the federal budget as possible to various cronies and lobbyists.

Former senator John Edwards, who had an affair even as he was scoring Oprah-points as the supportive husband during his wife’s battle with breast cancer, is being investigated by the feds for the improper use of campaign funds. It looks like the silky-haired champion of the little guys may have used their donations to bribe the alleged “baby mama” into silence.

And it would be a shame to let it pass that Obama’s Senate seat was put up for sale by the then-governor of Illinois, Rod Blagojevich. A congressional ethics board is investigating whether Illinois Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. tried to buy it.

But you know what? We ain’t seen nothing yet. For starters, the real corruption isn’t what the media are ignoring or downplaying as isolated incidents. It’s what the media are hailing as strokes of bold, inspirational leadership. The White House, as a matter of policy, is rewriting legal contracts, picking winners (mostly labor unions and mortgage defaulters) and singling out losers (evil “speculators”), while much of the media continue to ponder whether Obama is already a greater president than FDR.

If a Republican administration, staffed with cronies from Goldman Sachs and Citibank, were cutting special deals for its political allies, I suspect we’d be hearing fewer FDR analogies and more nouns ending with the suffix “gate.”

Take Obama’s “car czar,” Steven Rattner. According to ABC’s Jake Tapper, Rattner is accused of threatening to use the White House to smear a Chrysler creditor if it refused to back the administration’s Chrysler bankruptcy plan. He’s also connected to a massive pension-fund scandal involving the investment firm he used to run. It’s alleged that Rattner’s firm bought the less-than-worthless DVD distribution rights to the achingly awful film Chooch — produced by the brother of an official in the New York comptroller’s office — as a thinly veiled bribe to gain access to New York pensions funds. Chooch, by the way, is Italian slang for “jackass,” which just happens to be the Democrats’ mascot.

More to the point, political corruption is inevitable whenever you give hacks — of either party — too much discretion over public funds. Businesses look to Washington for profits instead of to the market. The thing is, this has become the governing philosophy of the Democratic party, from banking and cars to health care and now student loans. The federal government is taking over, and the culture of corruption inevitably trickles down. That in itself should be a scandal. Call it “Choochgate.”"

John R. Bolton - Obama's Prosecutions by Proxy - washingtonpost.com

John R. Bolton - Obama's Prosecutions by Proxy - washingtonpost.com: "President Obama's passivity before the threatened foreign prosecution of Bush administration officials achieves by inaction what he fears doing directly. This may be smart politics within the Democratic Party, but it risks grave long-term damage to the United States. Ironically, it could also come back to bite future Obama administration alumni, including the president, for their current policies in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere.

Obama has taken ambiguous, and flatly contradictory, positions on whether to prosecute Bush administration advisers and decision makers involved in 'harsh interrogation techniques.' Although he immunized intelligence operatives who conducted the interrogations, morale at the CIA is at record lows. The president has played to the crowd politically, but the principles underlying his policies are opaque and continually subject to change. This hardly constitutes leadership."

FrontPage Magazine - Homeland Insecurity, American Style: "During her first few weeks on the job, the Secretary of America’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS), former Arizona governor Janet Napolitano, has shown herself to be unqualified for her new post in a number of significant ways. she has proudly banished the word “terrorism” from the federal lexicon; she is ignorant of the most elementary facts regarding 9/11; she is eager to blame the United States for drug cartels violence in Mexico, without a shred of evidence; despite that violence, she is demonstrably averse to halting illegal immigration across the U.S.-Mexico border; and she is inclined to smear American conservatives as potential “terrorists.”

Because of her already dismal performance, some have begun to call for Napolitano’s resignation. Republican Congressman John Carter of Texas, for one, says that Napolitano “has no business serving in the position she’s in now” and “should be fired by the administration.” The conservative group Move America Forward is calling for Napolitano’s dismissal on grounds that she is “so ignorant” of a host of key facts that bear heavily on her ability to fulfill the duties of her office."

The enemies of our form of government, going back even to before the ratification of the Constitution, have never been limited to invading armies.

Alexander Hamilton in Federalist No. 22 warned that 'one of the weak sides of republics, among their numerous advantages, is that they afford too easy an inlet to foreign corruption.'

His solution was that treaties with foreign powers must submit 'to one supreme tribunal.' (Hamilton's own emphasis in the text.)

'Laws are a dead letter without courts to expound and define their true meaning and operation,' Hamilton noted.

Obviously, Hamilton did not envision that Supreme Court being located in Holland or Switzerland. It was to be an American court administering laws passed by the duly-elected representatives of the American people."

How should we deal with detainees who, if released, would return to the fight against us? How do we deal with the prisoners held at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan where some detainees captured outside Afghanistan are being held?

There are no easy answers. As senators who have struggled with these issues for years, we believe some basic principles can help us find a common path forward.

- First, do not confuse war with common criminality. The detainees held at Guantanamo are not common criminals, but warriors the vast majority of whom are fundamentally committed to the destruction of our way of life. The appropriate legal foundation upon which detainee policy should be built is the law of war, along with procedures adapted from our military justice system.

- Second, military commissions remain the appropriate trial venue for these individuals. We would strenuously oppose any effort to try enemy combatants in our civilian courts. By an overwhelming bipartisan vote in 2006, Congress passed the Military Commissions Act, which set forth procedures for trying enemy combatants for war crimes.

Our domestic criminal laws -- including their treatment of classified information -- are ill-suited for the complex national security issues inherent in the trial of enemy combatants. We have great faith in our military justice system -- appropriately modified for war crimes trials -- and we believe that military judges and lawyers render fair and impartial justice not only for our troops, but for enemy combatants as well.

- Third, preventive detention will continue to have a place in the war on terror . Under the law of war, the idea that an enemy combatant has to be tried or released is a false choice. Rather, it is well-established that combatants can be held off the battlefield as long as they present a military threat.

Iran's Ahmadinejad in new tirade against Israel

Iran's Ahmadinejad in new tirade against Israel: "Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad slammed Zionism as 'occupation' and 'aggression' Tuesday as he delivered his latest diatribe against the Jewish state on a visit to key Middle East ally Syria.

'The Zionist occupiers are destructive microbes, because Zionism itself is occupation, aggression, the use of assassination and annihilation,' he told a joint news conference with President Bashar al-Assad in the Syrian capital.

'Zionism was created to threaten us. To support the Palestinian resistance is a humanitarian and popular obligation,' Ahmadinejad said in remarks in Farsi that were translated into Arabic.

'Syria and Iran are united in supporting the Palestinian resistance.'"

Source: No charges seen over interrogation memos

Source: No charges seen over interrogation memos: "WASHINGTON – Justice Department investigators say Bush administration lawyers who approved harsh interrogation techniques of terror suspects should not face criminal charges, according to a draft report that also recommends two of the three attorneys face possible professional sanctions.

The Obama administration decided last month to make public legal memos authorizing the use of harsh interrogation methods but not to prosecute CIA interrogators who followed the advice outlined in the memos.

That decision angered conservatives who accused President Barack Obama of selling out the CIA, and from liberals who thought he was being too forgiving of practices they — and Obama — call torture. The president's rhetoric, if not actual policy, shifted on the matter as the political fallout intensified."

Again, if this is what the government wants to do in examining the documents and letting them out for all to see, having trials etc. then by all means do so. But the pendulum swings back again later and Obama and democrats will pay a much heavier price for their involvements and crimes that have gone unanswered for up to this point.

FOXNews.com - U.S. Navy Unveils New High-Tech Ship Called USS Freedom That Can Fight Pirates - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News: "The United States Navy unveiled a new high-tech ship it says can chase down pirates off the coast of Somalia faster and more aggressively than previous vessels could.

The USS Freedom can go up against massive enemy fleets and is one of the fastest ships in the Navy to date, its commander said in a FOX News 'America's Newsroom' exclusive.

'It's more than an evolutionary step forward, it's a revolutionary step forward,' Cmdr. Michael Doran told FOX News on Tuesday. 'It's highly automated and it's very fast. ... For a piracy mission, we can go out there and cover more water with fewer ships.'"

Michelle Malkin » 100 Days of the Poser Presidency: "Come on, who’s surprised? The White House-engineered photo-op of low-flying Air Force aircraft that caused terror in New York City this week epitomizes the Age of Obama. What better way to mark 100 days in office than with an appalling exercise in pointless, taxpayer-funded stagecraft.

The superficiality, the unseriousness, the hubris, the obliviousness to post-9/11 realities: They were trademarks of the Obama campaign and they are the tattoos on his governance.

He never leaves home without his teleprompter. All the Obama world’s a stage. Or a world ready to be staged.

So, is it any wonder he would staff his White House Military Office with a clueless paper-pusher who saw nothing wrong with spending inordinate government resources – and recreating 9/11 havoc — to update Air Force One publicity shots? And who planned, believe it or not, to do the same in Washington, D.C., next month, where 53 passengers and 6 crew members on board American Airlines Flight 77, and 125 military and civilian personnel inside the Pentagon were murdered by the 9/11 jihadists?

All for some damned publicity shots."

Family Security Matters » Publications » Is This Who We Want Representing U.S. Interests Abroad?: "Is repeatedly badmouthing the United States and fabricating an environment of a war against Muslims by the U.S. government a qualification for being sent on overseas travel at the taxpayers' expense?

The State Department and a U.S. university seem to think so.

Consider the case of Christina Abraham, Civil Rights Director for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Chicago chapter. It is an affiliate of the national CAIR group that was described by an FBI agent in trial of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development as a front for Hamas. CAIR had also been declared an unindicted co-conspirator in that same trial, that resulted in sweeping terrorist convictions for all defendants last year. For the past 14 years, CAIR has defended Islamic terrorism, sponsored anti-Semitic conferences and has consistently attacked nearly all U.S. prosecutions of Islamic terrorists and asset forfeitures of Islamic terrorist charitable front groups as racist. Late last year, the FBI severed its relationship with CAIR because of its ties to Hamas.

In early 2008, CAIR's Abraham participated in a program on "Building the National Identity and Civic Participation in the Philippines" conducted at Northern Illinois University (NIU) – an event funded by the U.S. State Department's Office of Citizen Exchanges in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. She served as what the program's training manual described as a "resource person" who "provided…materials for the program," which ran from May 31st to June 28th under the auspices of NIU's International Training Office & Center for Southeast Asian Studies.
But that wasn't the end of Abraham's involvement in the government-funded program. This past January -- again with the State Department picking up the tab -- she traveled to the Philippines to join in a follow-on week-long seminar at the Vistamar Resort in Mactan, Cebu.
CAIR was so proud that it issued a press release on February 11, 2009 entitled "Civil Rights Director Participates in State Dept. Delegation to Philippines." CAIR-Chicago reported that Abraham "headed to the Philippines this January as a part of a delegation to the International Visitor's [sic] Program (IVP) Conference in Cebu, Philippines." From January 2-13, the release reported, she gave presentations "on civil rights workshops based upon CAIR-Chicago's work for victims of discrimination." And the reported noted: "Each of the U.S. delegates was chosen for their respective expertise in methods for constructive civic engagement."

*sigh* how can we begin to win any war on terrorism with nonsense like this?
Has the war on terrorism ended just because Obama wishes to hide his head in the sand, play nice, hold hands and denounce America at every opportunity with apologies?
The terrorists don't seem to think so, they are taking this as a signal of weakness and lack of resolve.

The policy decisions regarding terrorism are not going to work in our favor now But the terrorists will love it."

Family Security Matters » Publications » The Selective Transparency of Barack Obama: "What rationale could they possibly use to stifle public disclosure? National security? These were glamour shots to enhance the Air Force One photo portfolio. That's no secret. The White House 'fessed up on that. Withholding the photos serves only one purpose: protecting the backsides of those involved in this botched PR mission.

From Day One, Obama has demonstrated a rather self-serving selectivity when it comes to transparency. The Obama White House rushed to reverse an 18-year ban photographing the flag-draped coffins of troops arriving back on American soil. And at the behest of the American Civil Liberties Union, his administration is set to release at least 21 classified photographs by May 28 showing detainee abuse in prisons in Iraq and Afghanistan. Openness in government is fine if it hurts America's reputation, but not if it harms Obama's.

Moreover, hostility to transparency is a running thread through Obama's cabinet:

- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for years fought disclosure of massive donations from foreign governments

and corporations that filled her husband's library and foundation coffers.

- Top Obama adviser David Axelrod ran fear-mongering campaigns in support of a huge utility rate hike - and failed to disclose that the ads were funded for Commonwealth Edison in Chicago.

- Labor Secretary Hilda Solis failed to disclose that she was director and treasurer of a union-promoting lobbying group pushing legislation that she was co-sponsoring.

- Attorney General Eric Holder overruled his own lawyers in the Justice Department on the issue of D.C. voting rights (which he and Obama support) and refused to make public the staffers' opinion that a House bill on the matter was unconstitutional.

- And as I reported last month, Obama's nominee for the No. 2 official at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, former King County, Wash., executive Ron Sims, has the distinction of being the most fined government official in his state's history for suppressing public records from taxpayers.

Obama set the tone, breaking his transparency pledge with the very first bill he signed into law. On January 29, the White House announced that the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act had been posted online for review. One problem: Obama had already signed it - in violation of his "sunlight before signing" pledge to post legislation for public comment on the White House website five days before he sealed any deal.

Obama broke the pledge again with the mad rush to pass his trillion-dollar pork-stuffed stimulus package full of earmarks he denied existed. Jim Harper of the Cato Institute reported in April 2009: "Of the eleven bills President Obama has signed, only six have been posted on Whitehouse.gov. None have been posted for a full five days after presentment from Congress..."

It's this utter disregard for taxpayer accountability that prompted hundreds of thousands of citizens to take to the streets on Tax Day for Tea Party protests. The trampling of transparency inspired signs that read: "No legislation without deliberation" and "READ THE BILL FIRST." Obama's response was first to claim that he hadn't even heard of the Tea Party movement, and then, on his 100-day celebration, to deride all those Americans he is supposed to represent for "playing games."

Projection, anyone? When it comes to toying with transparency, President Obama is a master at "playing games."
