Religion; politics: Virginia battles Antichrist, 'mark of the beast' microchips: "Religion; politics: Virginia battles Antichrist, 'mark of the beast' microchips. Virginia legislators claimed victory against the Antichrist and implantable microchips last week by passing a bill that prevents employers or insurance companies from forcing patients to accept the devices.
Del. Mark L. Cole (R-Fredericksburg), the sponsor of the bill, worried that the devices could someday be the 'mark of the beast' as described in the Book of Revelation. Cole tries to explain:
'My understanding -- I'm not a theologian -- but there's a prophecy in the Bible that says you'll have to receive a mark, or you can neither buy nor sell things in end times,' Cole said. 'Some people think these computer chips might be that mark.'
Apparently Cole's theology was good enough for the Virginia House of Delegates. The body passed the legislation, even though no one has ever proposed forcibly implanting microchips in humans. Apparently Virginia, with the help of Delegate Cole, outsmarted the Antichrist.
To think such ignorant superstition could command adults in the 21st century is astonishing. Even more disturbing news: "
