CNSNews.com - Two Students Investigated for 'Felony Hate Crime' -- Throwing Cotton Balls on Lawn

(CNSNews.com) - Two students at the University of Missouri-Columbia were suspended Wednesday, following their arrest on suspicion of a felony hate crime -- for throwing cotton balls across the lawn of the school's black-culture center, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

Nathan Stephens, the culture center's coordinator, was quoted as saying that students were offended because of the "symbolic violence" harkening back to the days of slavery on cotton plantations.
