A White House 'Gunrunner'? - Investors.com
Late last Friday, CBS News and the Los Angeles Times almost buried the news that Restrepo, the National Security Council's top man for Latin America, and two other officials, were in on ATF memos from the Gunwalker operation called "Fast and Furious."
That blows apart White House claims that it had no idea the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was encouraging frontmen for Mexico's cartels to buy weapons from U.S. gun dealers — to "trace" them afterward.
Some 2,000 U.S. guns were sold in Gunwalker but simply disappeared — until they turned up at massacres in Mexico and at the murder scenes of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry and Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agent Jaime Zapata.

Obama’s ineligibility: Prepare to defend America – The real issue for 2012
No other issue, however, is more important.
Shall this nation, under God, have a new birth of freedom—and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth?
The present United States Government is riddled with corruption, complicity and complacency. As such, America will not survive.
Sarah Palin, during her speech at the Tea Party of America’s “Restoring America” event in Indianola, Iowa on September 3, 2011, described it well:
“It’s the collusion of big government and big business and big finance to the detriment of all the rest – to the little guys.”

Obama’s Plan May Help Obama, but Not the Economy | The Blog on Obama: White House Dossier
How is President Obama’s latest stimulus measure going to stimulate the economy when it’s not a stimulus?
Of course, the White House won’t call it a stimulus, since no one thinks a stimulus works anymore. They’ll call it a jobs measure.
But the idea is to stimulate the economy, which creates jobs, so it’s a stimulus.
Except it isn’t. And so it won’t do much at all to help the economy.
You see, one little sentence in White House Press Secretary Jay Carney’s briefing yesterday seems to have been overlooked by everyone. It sounds bland and non-controversial enough, but it suggests more than anything that what we’re going to see Thursday night is political theater, as opposed to, I guess, economic theater.
Here’s what he said:
Let me also be clear that the President will make it absolutely clear that he will pay for these proposals.

Markets engage in a triple-digit rally because Hurricane Irene wasn't as damaging as hyped. Or pundits claim that a strong month of car sales are driving away fears of a double-dip recession (even though the same article indicates such spending is unsustainable with high unemployment).
There is celebration in the markets when second quarter housing prices come in higher than expected despite the fact that there are millions of homes either in or near foreclosure, and despite the fact that the second quarter's sale prices were actually down year-over-year. Some days the market goes up because, allegedly, investors are thinking Europe isn't as bad as was thought. Other days the markets are down on "renewed concern" over Europe's situation.

The poll shows that responding to the question, "If you had to say, which major party do you think the national news media favor in their political coverage?" 46.4 percent identified the Democrats while 23.4 identified the GOP. Another 30.3 percent said neither party.

That day. That horrific day. Remembering September 11, 2001. « Estote Parati
That day. That horrific day.
September 11, 2001 was a day like many others where we all got up and went about our business on a beautiful sunny fall day. We were completely unaware of the sickening plot that 19 homicidal maniacs were about to unleash upon our nation.
On that beautiful morning, our friends, colleagues and family members boarded planes to go to work, see family, go on vacation:
0759: AA 11 took off from Logan Airport en route to LAX with 92 passengers and crew
0801: UAL 93 took off from Newark en route to San Francisco with 44 passengers and crew.
0814: UAL 175 took off from Logan Airport – also en route to LAX with 65 passengers and crew.
0820: AA 77 took off from Washington Dulles en route to LAX with 64 passengers and crew.
That beautiful morning, tens of thousands of people went about their business in NYC at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in Virginia. Then, the unthinkable started. That beautiful morning turned into one of the most horrific and sad days in our country’s history:
0846: AA 11 is flown into WTC 1 (North Tower). All passengers and many people in WTC 1 are instantly murdered
0903: UAL 175 is flown into WTC 2 (South Tower). All passengers and many people in WTC 2 are also instantly murdered.
0937: AA 77 is flown into the side of the Pentagon. All passengers and 125 people in the Pentagon are instantly murdered.
0959: WTC 2 collapses. Instantly killing hundreds of people.
1003: UAL 93 is crashed into a field in Shanksville, PA after a heroic effort by passengers to take back control of the plane. Forty people are instantly murdered.
1028: WTC 1 collapses. Instantly killing hundreds more people.
That day. That horrific day 343 firefighters, 23 NYPD officers and 37 Port Authority Police rushed in to do their job and go where others were fleeing. They all died.
That day. That horrific day 2819 innocent souls were lost and barely 10% of their bodies were found intact.
That day. That profoundly sad day over 3000 children lost a parent and over 1600 lost a spouse or partner.
That day. We, America the beautiful, wiped away our tears, grabbed each other’s hands and came together to heal the emotional and physical wounds.
That day, America showed that you can break our hearts, but you can’t break our spirit. We will come back, and we’ll come back stronger than ever.
That day, America vowed to NEVER let this happen again!
That day. Our flag flew proudly all around the country. We were the UNITED States of America. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness were not going to be destroyed.
Since that day, we will also NEVER forget the over 6000 brave men and women who gave their lives fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan or the over 45000 wounded in action.
Let us give thanks to all who we lost and all who sacrificed to defend our freedom and liberty!
That day. That horrific day. We will NEVER EVER forget!

DeMint: Obama Treats Congress ‘Like Children’ - By Robert Costa - The Corner - National Review Online
“He believes people are stupid, or at least not smart enough to catch onto him,” DeMint says, shaking his head, days before the president unveils his jobs plan. “In some ways, to position himself as a leader, he calls us all in like children in the Congress, coming over to announce his jobs program. At least the implications, the subtleties there, suggest he’s leading us. That’s what he’s trying to do. But from a businessman’s perspective, it’s really intolerable.”
“He’s going to put some things out there and dare Republicans to block it,” DeMint predicts. “If we agree with it, then we own it with him. If we block it, then he can blame us when the economy doesn’t get better. So he’s playing a game with this. And he’s going to try to radicalize Republicans by calling us tea-party Republicans.”
“That’s going to be his strategy,” DeMint says. “He can’t run on his record. So it’s got to be psychological warfare, demonizing the Tea Party, creating a boogeyman.”

“…Yes. It’s in place and underway – being developed. Further developed. It’s gonna – gonna tie it in with the unions somehow. I don’t know exactly how – just that’s included in it. It will be an all out campaign on race. The goal is to completely mobilize the Black vote while shaming an even greater number of white voters into not opposing a second Obama term.”

Advice Goddess Blog
On March 31st, when I came through the metal detector and realized that everyone in the TSA line to my United flight was getting searched, I got teary. I was teary at the prospect of being touched by a government worker -- entirely without probable cause. I was very upset, both because of the physical violation and because I love our now too-often-crumpled-up Constitution and Bill of Rights.
I can hold back the tears...hang tough...but as I was made to "assume the position" on a rubber mat like a common criminal, I thought fast. I decided that these TSA lackeys who serve the government in violating our rights just don't deserve my quiet compliance. And no, I won't go through the scanner (do you trust the government that they're safe?) and allow a government employee to see me naked in the course of normal and totally ordinary business travel: flying from Los Angeles to Binghamton, New York, to attend an evolutionary psychology conference for my work.
