Lanier said Monday that her department is adjusting its tactics in response to Occupy D.C.’s “increasingly confrontational and violent” demonstrations, following the actions of other U.S. cities looking to evict — or at least crack down — on what officials are characterizing as unruly protesters.
The chief’s tough talk changed the tone of what had been about a month of congenial relations between protesters and authorities. It came after a Friday night incident in which several people attending a downtown event where the protesters were demonstrating were hurt.

Most of the unemployed no longer receive benefits - CNBC: WASHINGTON - The jobs crisis has left so many people out of work for so long that most of America's unemployed are no longer receiving unemployment benefits.
Early last year, 75 percent were receiving checks. The figure is now 48 percent — a shift that points to a growing crisis of long-term unemployment. Nearly one-third of America's 14 million unemployed have had no job for a year or more.
Congress is expected to decide by year's end whether to continue providing emergency unemployment benefits for up to 99 weeks in the hardest-hit states. If the emergency benefits expire, the proportion of the unemployed receiving aid would fall further.

OccupyDC Protesters Use Kids to Blockade Door During Violent Scuffle | MRCTV: After coming to the top of the escalator at the DC Convention Center's Metro station I witness a group of OccupyDC protesters fighting with convention center security guards while trying to blockade an entrance to the center. Shockingly the protesters had purposely placed two children at the center of the ordeal. After the kids and several protesters were pushed back from the door by security I asked the mother why she had intentionally placed her young children in harm’s way. She and several other protesters justified the act to me while one other protester expressed dissatisfaction with the decision.

The Beaufort Observer: President Obama's attorney sent a letter to Congressional investigators on Friday, saying the White House would not cooperate with a subpoena requesting documents related to its doling out a $535 million loan guarantee to now bankrupt solar panel manufacturer Solyndra.
"I can only conclude that your decision to issue a subpoena, authorized by a party-line vote, was driven more by partisan politics than a legitimate effort to conduct a responsible investigation," Obama's counsel, Kathryn Ruemmler, wrote in a letter to the top Republicans on the House Energy and Commerce committee. Anonymous announced the trailer with a tweet: “The hacker ethos has a passion for truth.”
“Anonymous calls itself the final boss of the Internet,” said one unnamed interviewee in the four-minute trailer, “and sometimes it proves to be really fucking true.”
While no release date for the film has been indicated, the YouTube page promises: “EXPECT US 2012.”

Democrats Don’t Care About Your Children | Godfather Politics: If you are still unsure of who to vote for in the upcoming elections, perhaps you need to think about the impact your vote will have on your children. What kind of legislation does each candidate support and how will that legislation affect the next generation. While I can’t list each politician from every state, I can offer some general trends and track records held by one political party in particular.
I contend that the general trend of the Democratic Party is to first corrupt our children with a broad spectrum of liberal education and moral values and then hand them a nation in financial ruin.
The Democrats currently in control have more than doubled the national debt and have plans to double it again in the next ten years. If something isn’t done immediately, our children and our children’s children will be paying the debts incurred now.

Homeland Security Chief Janet Napolitano LIES to House Committee about Fast and Furious « Coach is Right: During her October 25th testimony before the House Government Oversight Committee, Department of Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano claimed she has never spoken about Fast and Furious with Attorney General Eric Holder, had never heard of the deadly scheme prior to the December 2010 killing of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry (as it was an ATF operation) and although head of Homeland Security, considered it unnecessary to learn more about the deliberate SMUGGLING of thousands of weapons into the hands of Mexican drug dealers because there was an investigation being performed by the Inspector General at the Department of Justice.
The degree of outright dishonesty exhibited by Napolitano that afternoon is rivaled only by that of Eric Holder in his House Committee testimony several weeks earlier.
Responding to a question from Committee chair Darrell Issa about her activities following Terry’s death, Napolitano said, “my number one concern [was] that those responsible for the shooting death of Agent Terry were brought to justice.”
Were that actually the case, why would former prosecutor Napolitano make no protest when three of the Mexican illegals taken into custody at the scene of Terry’s murder were subsequently deported to Mexico several weeks after the killing?
No charges were filed by Phoenix US Attorney, Dennis Burke, no objection made by the FBI into whose custody the three had been taken and NONE lodged by the “concerned” Janet Napolitano. Even if none of the three had actually pulled the trigger, aren’t accessories to murder considered equally culpable under the law?
Or is it possible the DOJ wanted these men out of the country and unable to testify as to what they knew of the Fast and Furious-purchased rifles found at the scene?

More Guns Provided Through Fast and Furious Found in Arizona Raid - Katie Pavlich: Since finding out about Operation Fast and Furious, Arizona Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu has been anything but amused. With no regard for local law enforcement, the Obama Justice Department supplied the most dangerous criminals in North America with high powered weapons, including .50-calibur sniper rifles and AK-47s, leading to the death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry and at least 200 innocent Mexican citizens. Now with the Southern border still wide open, Babeu and his deputies will face the barrels of those guns as they do their job to combat Mexican drug cartels illegally operating in Arizona.
Today, Babeu's office confirmed two guns found during a massive drug smuggling bust against the Sinaloa Cartel in Pinal County, were provided through Operation Fast and Furious.

An interesting bit from White House reporter Tangi Quéméner's latest pool report from the G-20 in Cannes, France:
[President Obama] entered the room at 1:15 and took to his left, heading to Angela Merkel and Nicolas Sarkozy. They chatted for a few seconds before British Prime minister David Cameron joined them. Hard to understand what they were saying amid the cameras noise. POTUS then took a stroll to Australian Premier Julia Gillard who got a hug as European president Herman van Rompuy, European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso and Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan were watching. Eventually the Europeans got a handshake but Erdogan got the hug treatment. POTUS then walked all the way around after noticing that "people are really far away around there". He stopped for quick handshakes and reached out to President Hu of China, telling him 'ni hao' (hello). They cordially shook hands and posed for photographers...POTUS then greeted his Argentinian counterpart Cristina Kirchner who just got reelected without runoff. Angela Merkel was just congratulating her (in English). "So Nicolas, we all have to take lessons" of Kirchner's victory, joked POTUS, who's up for reelection in '12, as Sarkozy is (next May).
Isn't this whole scene pretty standard for President Obama? The Europeans get a handshake and the Islamist Turkish prime minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan gets a hug. And all the president seems to have in mind is campaign politics and his reelection effort.
Still believe this is just some ritual dress?

The Iconoclast: he big news out of the Voice of America’s Persian News Network (PNN), the much troubled broadcasting service you would think would be bringing the “voice” of America to Iran, was the firing ten days ago of CNN/FoxNews broadcasting star Rudi Bakhtiar.
Just a few months ago, Ms. Bakhtiar was considered a treasured catch. Lured away from a prominent position as a public affairs spokesperson for a human rights campaign, she was escorted out of the Cohen building on a Friday afternoon by VOA security guards. It was a humiliating end to a short-lived career where by all accounts she succeeded in raising moral and raising the profile of this much troubled U.S. broadcasting service.
What happened? For now, Ms. Bakhtiar is keeping mum – understandably so – as she undoubtedly consults lawyers and considers taking legal action against VOA.

FBI says Russian spies got close to Cabinet - Washington Times: The FBI rounded up a network of deep-cover Russian spies last year after the group came close to placing an agent near a Cabinet official in the Obama administration, a senior FBI counterspy said Monday as the bureau released once-secret documents on the case.
Frank Figliuzzi, assistant FBI director for counterintelligence, did not identify the Cabinet official, but other U.S. officials said it was Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Mr. Figliuzzi said in an interview that the FBI decided to end its more than 10-year-long counterspy investigation of the network because of concerns that the spies were “getting very close to their objective.”
“These 10 Russian officers were sent to the U.S. on a specific mission to get close to U.S. policymakers and leaders in our government,” he said, noting that one had developed a friendship with someone close to a Cabinet official.
