Kenyan Lawmaker: Obama Born In Kenya

Kenyan Lawmaker: Obama Born In Kenya
Kenyan MP James Orengo
A Kenyan lawmaker has flatly stated in his parliament that US President Barack Obama was born in Africa and is therefore “not even native American.”
James Orengo, who is Kenyan minister of lands and a parliamentarian for the Ugenya constituency, made the statement during a floor debate about drafting a new constitution for the country.
“If America was living in a situation where they feared ethnicity and did not see itself as a multiparty state or nation,” Orengo argued, “how could a young man born here in Kenya, who is not even a native American, become the president of America?”
Orengo said the US is no longer “living in the past” since Americans elected a Kenyan-born president without regard to “ethnic consideration and objectives.”
The statements can be found in the Kenyan government’s official March 25, 2010, hansard – a traditional name for printed transcripts of a parliamentary debate – and shows that no other MPs mentioned or tried to correct Orengo’s comments about Obama.See original work for more on this and other stories.
