White House: No New Gun Laws, Use Existing Law to Keep Guns From ‘People Who Should Not Have Them’ | CNSNews.com: (CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama has no plans to push for new gun laws in light of the movie theater massacre in Colorado, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said over the weekend, even as other liberal politicians were calling for stricter gun control.

As a candidate for president, Obama favored restoring the so-called assault weapons ban that was passed in 1994 and expired in 2004. Aboard Air Force One en route to Aurora, Colo., Sunday, Carney took questions from reporters about whether Obama would seek gun control legislation.
