Valerie Jarrett Invades Your Living Room on CBS Drama 'The Good Wife' | Truth Revolt

Valerie Jarrett Invades Your Living Room on CBS Drama 'The Good Wife' | Truth Revolt: In their infinite wisdom, the writers and producers of the CBS drama The Good Wife thought it was a great idea to have White House advisor Valerie Jarrett perform a cameo appearance in Sunday night's episode.

The Weekly Standard gives context to the scene:

The scene features Jarrett on the phone with Julianna Margulies (who is the star of The Good Wife and who plays Alicia Florrick), being coached by Alan Cumming (who is playing a political strategist by the name of Eli Gold).

In earlier episodes of the series, Democratic Party operative Donna Brazile has appeared as well.

The New York Times reviewed the appearance and called the cameos a "fan service for a liberal audience of a certain age" but the praise ended there:

These cameos would make sense if Michelle and Robert King, the show’s creators, were lobbying for some kind of federal production tax credit. And they probably succeed as fan service for a liberal audience of a certain age. But they don’t work as television drama. The political functionaries can’t act — they’re a distraction, and they flatten every scene they’re in. The shock of recognition isn’t worth it.
