Off-duty Abilene officer found dead; Texas Rangers, FBI investigate: CLYDE, Texas – An off-duty Abilene police officer has been found killed, and the Texas Rangers and FBI have been called in to investigate, police said Tuesday.

The case is being investigated as a homicide.

According to a news release from the police department in Clyde, Texas, located about 15 miles from Abilene, at about 7 p.m. Monday, Clyde police officers responded to "an unattended death" at a home on Yucca Dr. involving the off-duty Abilene officer, Don Allen. He was the only person in the residence when he was found dead by family members, police said.
