An Abilene couple has been arrested for the murder of an Abilene police officer.
Violet Walter, 30, and Phillip Walter, 29, were taken into custody in the 1000 block of South Clack about 6 p.m. Thursday in connection with the homicide of officer Don Russell Allen, according to Abilene Police Chief Stan Standridge.
The Walters, who are husband and wife, were charged with first-degree felony murder, and punishment ranges from 5-99 years to life in prison. Standridge said that charges could be added, pending further investigation.
Bond has been set at $500,000 each.
