DHS Chief Warns of 'Unprecedented Spike in' U.S. 'Homegrown Terrorism’: WASHINGTON, D.C. — Battled-hardened “holy warriors” who traveled from outside the Middle East to join the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) in Iraq and Syria are expected to “wreak murderous havoc” in the United States and other countries once they return home, warns the secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
