Students ask UMD to ‘expand the consequences of hate speech’: Students are demanding that the University of Maryland impose harsher punishments for “hate speech” in the wake of a tragedy on campus.
Reasoning that the recent murder of a black student by a white supremacist was fueled in part by hate speech, the students want UMD to make unspecified revisions to the Code of Conduct to prevent hate speech on campus.
