NRA Challenges Gillibrand On Second Amendment, 'Show Them The Love Letter You Wrote Us' - Sara A. Carter: The National Rifle Association revealed in a tweet Monday that Senator Kirsten Gillibrand once penned a “love letter” to the group, but contradicted herself on the campaign trail over the weekend. In her 2008 letter, Gillibrand thanked NRA Executive Director Chris Cox for meeting with her and laid out her praises of the second amendment.
“I always have and always will believe that the correct interpretation of the 2nd amendment is that it applies to an individual’s right to carry guns, and does not apply generally to the National Guard or a group of individuals in a State,” Gillibrand wrote, “Moreover, I do not believe that public housing authorities should have the right to ban firearms by people living in their homes.”
