Impeachment Hearing: Nadler Calls For A Break, Gaetz Grills Him For Running To Brief The Press - Sara A. Carter: House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler called for a break in Monday’s impeachment hearing, which Republican lawmakers slammed as an opportunity for Democrats to run to a press conference.

While voting on whether to break, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) chimed in with vehement opposition to the proposition. What followed was a tense exchange. “This is so they can have a press conference before Mr. Castor gets the chance to offer rebuttal. Nobody asked for this break,” Gaetz argued.

Nadler immediately interrupted Gaetz denying him the opportunity to speak. Then, House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan chimed in saying, “How long do we anticipate the recess? How long is the recess? I’d just like to know how long.”

“It’s until they’re done with their press conference,” Gaetz said.
