More officers have been killed this year than soldiers in Iraq in 7 years

More officers have been killed this year than soldiers in Iraq in 7 years: Perspective. It’s something that’s so easy to lose when you become numb to the seemingly regular murders of police officers.

So here’s a little perspective.

So far this year, we’ve lost 115 officers in the line of duty.

Between 2012 and 2019, we lost 81 U.S. soldiers in Iraq.

The numbers aren’t meant to downplay the tremendous sacrifice of those who serve overseas. Just the opposite, actually. We share the numbers as an important reminder that those who choose to protect and serve are fighting on battlefields both outside of our country… and within it.
