Portland mayor realizes defunding police ‘was a mistake’: cop union leader | Fox News: Defunding the police is not a solution for safer cities, Portland Police Association President Daryl Turner explained on “The Story" on Wednesday night.
“Defunding the police is not a solution. It's a political stunt,” Turner told host Martha MacCallum. “Portland police officers and all police officers respond to calls to service. They respond to calls no matter what your race, creed, culture, religion, sexual orientation, or gender is.”
Since the city of Portland disbanded its gun violence reduction team July 1, shootings have increased and homicide hit a 30-year high. According to Turner, Portland Mayor and police commissioner Ted Wheeler has realized defunding the police force "was a mistake.”
