Latest WHO report: H1N1 swine flu virus is now resisting drugs and mutating

Latest WHO report: H1N1 swine flu virus is now resisting drugs and mutating: "As many Americans prepare for Thanksgiving tomorrow, with millions expected to travel over the holiday weekend, the latest news from the World Health Organization (WHO) could worry many; WHO has received reports from both the U.K. and the the U.S. of a H1N1 swine flu virus which now appears to be mutating and developing a resistance to drugs such as Tamiflu.

An associated press report states that China has detected 8 cases of a H1N1 swine flu mutation, following a report last week from Norway of two deaths possibly from a H1N1 swine flu mutation. WHO is investigating the cases in Norway to determine if this is indeed the case, although a WHO statement, issued November 20 2009, states that no further incidences have been recorded; at the present time, no further information was available on the China H1N1 swine flu mutation incidences.

U.K. And U.S. reports of H1N1 swine flu resistance to Tamiflu

The U.K. has confirmed five reports of H1N1 virus resistance to Tamiflu and the U.S. recorded four cases last week at Duke University Hospital in North Carolina. However, in all of these cases, it has been stated that the H1N1 virus resisted drugs in people with “compromised immune systems.”
