Racism is alive and well, but it's not why Trump is president
Racism is alive and well, but it's not why Trump is president: The U.S. in 2017 is still a country that has deep problems with racism. Black families have less wealth than white families, black Americans are less educated than other demographics, and black Americans still suffer discrimination in the workplace. Racism influences how people interact, work, and vote.
But as the primary lens to view the 2016 election, it’s complicated at best, and largely incomplete.
According to the data, the electorate in 2016 was less racist than it was in 2012 – and this includes less racism from Republicans, and it includes the fact that the coalition that voted for Barack Obama was much more racist than the one that voted for Hillary Clinton.

Forget what they say — House Democrats are readying for impeachment - The Washington Post: To fill their top spot on the House Judiciary Committee, Democrats had a choice between experts in two critical policy arenas — a constitutional-law ace with firsthand experience battling Donald Trump, and an architect of sweeping immigration legislation.
By a wide margin, they chose the constitutional-law expert. Why? To ready themselves for a battle with President Trump that could end with impeachment proceedings.
The selection of Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) as the ranking Democrat on the Judiciary Committee was the clearest sign yet of how seriously House Democrats consider the possibility of a full-blown constitutional showdown with Trump.

The U.S. Media Yesterday Suffered its Most Humiliating Debacle in Ages: Now Refuses All Transparency Over What Happened Friday was one of the most embarrassing days for the U.S. media in quite a long time. The humiliation orgy was kicked off by CNN, with MSNBC and CBS close behind, with countless pundits, commentators and operatives joining the party throughout the day. By the end of the day, it was clear that several of the nation’s largest and most influential news outlets had spread an explosive but completely false news story to millions of people, while refusing to provide any explanation of how it happened. Nolte: Media Close 2017 Proving Trump 100 Percent Correct About Fake News
If the discredited American media have enjoyed even one good week this year, I cannot recall it. But what is not in doubt is that the establishment media have closed 2017 by proving President Trump 100 percent correct about their massive fake news problem.
This past week has been an unmitigated disaster for a corrupt and depraved institution that only gets more desperately corrupt and depraved with each passing day.
Here is the most comprehensive list of latest fake news I could come up with. Undoubtedly, in a firehose of lies, something will be overlooked.

House Republicans Prepare Contempt Action Against FBI, DOJ - Bloomberg
U.S. House Republicans are drafting a contempt of Congress resolution against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher Wray, claiming stonewalling in producing material related to the Russia-Trump probes and other matters.
Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes and other committee Republicans, after considering such action for several weeks, decided to move after media including the New York Times reported Saturday on why a top FBI official assigned to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of Russia-Trump election collusion had been removed from the investigation.

Senate GOP repeals ObamaCare mandate | TheHill
Senate GOP repeals ObamaCare mandate | TheHill
Senate Republicans have approved the repeal of ObamaCare’s individual mandate as part of their tax-cut bill, a major step toward ending an unpopular part of the health-care law.
“Families ought to be able to make decisions about what they want to buy and what works for them — not the government,” Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) said, hailing the accomplishment.
“I believe if people don’t want to buy the ObamaCare insurance, they shouldn’t have to pay a tax penalty to the IRS.”

Byron York: Nunes blows up, threatens contempt after FBI stonewalls House on Russia investigator demoted for anti-Trump bias
Byron York: Nunes blows up, threatens contempt after FBI stonewalls House on Russia investigator demoted for anti-Trump bias
House Intelligence Committee chairman Devin Nunes has issued an angry
demand to the FBI and Department of Justice to explain why they kept
the committee in the dark over the reason Special Counsel Robert Mueller
kicked a key supervising FBI agent off the Trump-Russia investigation.
Stories in both the Washington Post and New York Times
on Saturday reported that Peter Strzok, who played a key role in the
original FBI investigation into the Trump-Russia matter, and then a key
role in Mueller's investigation, and who earlier had played an equally
critical role in the FBI's Hillary Clinton email investigation, was
reassigned out of the Mueller office because of anti-Trump texts he
exchanged with a top FBI lawyer, Lisa Page, with whom Strzok was having
an extramarital affair. Strzok was transferred to the FBI's human
resources office — an obvious demotion -- in July.
The
Post reported that Strzok and Page exchanged text messages that
"expressed anti-Trump sentiments and other comments that appeared to
favor Clinton."
