www.nemspi.org: "ZERO HOUR: America’s Medic has received DHS designation as acertified DHS awareness level training program. DHS has given the course the designator of AWR-149-W. This designation makes it possible for response organizations to utilize grant funds to pay for bulk registrations. See below side bar.

The George Washington University entered into a cooperative agreement with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to develop research, education, and policy on Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in America’s largest cities. A large survey tool was developed to quantify the EMS preparedness levels of the largest cities in America. In conjunction with the research, two EMS policy summits were held with the EMS Operational Chiefs, Directors, and Administrators of several large cities in America to discuss areas that need significant policy development for response to large scale incidents. The outcomes of these two summits provided recommendations to the DHS. The educational learning tool will train EMS providers and related public health, emergency management, public safety and hospital based medical personnel on how to respond to a variety of terrorist attacks, including chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive events."
