Obama “Saves” More Jobs » Right Pundits: "Remember how we were told that we had to pass the Economic Stimulus plan right away (any delay would mean the end of humanity) so that we could save or create 600,000 new jobs? Yeah, that was a total line too, just like Obama is going to go line by line through the budget and save us a whopping $17 Million dollars. Well, as it turns out, the spendulus bill isn’t quite having the effect that the supporters thought it might. The Washington Post reports that due to some of the trade restrictions in the Porkulus bill, 600 United Steel Workers in Pennsylvania have lost their jobs. Here is the relevant quote:"

…In recent weeks, its largest client — a steel pipemaker located one mile down the road — notified Duferco Farrell that it would be canceling orders. Instead, the client is buying from companies with 100 percent U.S. production to meet the new stimulus regulations. Duferco has had to furlough 80 percent of its workforce.

“You need to tell me how inhibiting business between two companies located one mile apart is going to save American jobs,” said Bob Miller, Duferco Farrell’s executive vice president. “I’ve got 600 United Steel Workers out there who are going to lose their jobs because of this. And you tell me this is good for America?” …

I admit that there is some amount of schadenfreude about the fact that is is union workers (who largely supported the election of the President) who are going to get the shaft due to this new policy. In fact, I think we will see at the end of this recession that the largest impacted US worker will clearly be the union worker. When Chrsyler and GM are finished with their restructures you could easily see as much as half of the UAW laid off, and those jobs are never coming back.

Of course, we already know where the real blame lies. Obviously he inherited these job losses from the previous failed administration. Bushmchitlerhaliburton will take the fall for everything that happens for the next 4 years. (/snark)
