These are the same people who have concluded that waterboarding is torture–after the fact. Not in 2002, when Congress was kept in the loop regarding this and other interrogation techniques. Apparently then, when those same members of Congress and others didn’t know whether or not other attacks on America were imminent, waterboarding didn’t seem like such a bad idea.
But now it does, which taken to its logical conclusion, means liberals would have preferred a few thousand additional Americans exterminated in LA to Khalid Sheikh Mohmmed’s ex post facto “rights” being violated.
If the American left gets its way, maybe we’ll have to tolerate an “acceptable” number of dead innocents to satisfy their need to prove we’re morally “superior”–to homicide-bombing, head-chopping thugs who want to impose a totalitarian theocracy on the entire world. Liberals, you see, don’t believe we’re inherently better than terrorists, or that America is an exceptional nation. They don’t believe that gut-wrenching, legally vetted choices made by patriots acting in the best interests of protecting America are any better than four thugs wearing headscarves making a decapitation video. It’s just “two sides of the same coin.”
Well, guess who’s driving the car now? And guess who might have to tell Americans on some unthinkable day in the future that yes, we may have been able to prevent that nuclear attack with tough interrogation, but we decided to take the “moral high ground” instead. Try “spinning” that one into something positive, my liberal friends.
And while you’re at it, explain to all of us how letting al Qaeda, et al, know exactly what we’re doing to procure intelligence isn’t as stupid as it gets. One can only wonder if modern-day liberals were in charge during WWll, if they would have told the Germans we were landing at Normandy as “reparations” for bombing Dresden."
