Do Democrats Cheat to Win?

The right to vote is the life pulse of a free society. President Barack Hussein Obama and the liberal left are sucking at that pulse and the very heart of America. During the last presidential election the dead voted and their participation counted (2,812 in Minnesota alone where the Coleman-Franken recount trial is underway). Meanwhile, some living voters got shafted: military men and women serving our country cast their ballots, yet many of their votes were not counted (no surprise here, since military votes tend to favor Republicans).

The last election was not unlike a B-horror film: chilling, disturbing and full of plot holes that are hard to swallow. Thuggism befitting a B-flick ran rampant. The New Black Panthers poll watched, bullied and swayed voters with weapons and racial slurs at voting stations on Election Day. Such behavior needs to be punished by the law, right? Not in this living dead horror show. The prosecution of the New Black Panthers, who were clearly in violation of the Voting Right’s Act, 18 U.S. Code Sec. 594, included seeking an injunction against such intimidation in future elections. Incredibly, Attorney General Eric “The Coward” Holder dropped all charges against the harassing group (Patriot Skyline, June 9, 2009, http://patriotskyline.blogspot.com/2009/06/eric-holder-dismisses-voter.html).

Our B-horror movie is a joint American-foreign venture, by the way. Some states allowed illegal aliens – non-U.S. citizens – and the homeless to vote. (Ohio accepted park bench locations in lieu of addresses from its homeless voters.)

This horror show also includes absurdism and pathos: ACORN, a corrupt partisan organization currently under investigation for voter fraud in 14 states, registered Disney characters to vote. The group also shuttled mentally challenged adults to voting booths and told them to vote for Obama. ACORN workers also met organization quotas by registering voters that reside in cemeteries.

By the way, this is the same ACORN due to receive billions of taxpayer dollars from the Stimulus Bill; the same ACORN that President Obama has hired to work the next U.S. Census. As Andrew Breitbart and others have pointed out, Obama’s attempted takeover of the Census Bureau is “an act that could redraw congressional districts and ensure Democratic majorities for years to come” (“Know thy Enemy: This is Not Your Mother’s Democratic Party,” Washington Times, June 8, 2009, http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/jun/08/know-thy-enemy-this-is-not-your-mothers-democratic/?feat=home_headlines). Politicization of the Census is cause for concern, especially since a redrawing of districts equates to a reconfiguration of Electoral votes.
Denigrating the Vote

By now it’s obvious that ACORN is the source of much of the villainy in our spooky movie – and for good reason. ACORN has been the focus of in-depth investigations by Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly on Fox News Network. O’Reilly recently appeared on Beck’s show (May 29, 2009) to discuss why Americans should care about the group. Beck discussed ACORN’s hidden, far-reaching tentacles. More than just a community activist group, “It's about 270 organizations, it goes to the power centers of unions all the way to Congress to the White House. This is a huge story of corruption . . .” Part of ACORN’s power is its ability to operate clandestinely. As Beck notes, “nobody really seems . . . I mean, everybody is covering, kicking dirt over the tracks.” And when reporters try to expose ACORN’s antics, Beck points out that “The New York Times, they threw you [O’Reilly] under the bus . . . .” He may be right. “The Gray Lady” supposedly axed a piece exposing ACORN's ties to Obama’s campaign (News Hounds, May 28, 2009, http://www.newshounds.us/2009/05/28/oreilly_and_beck_we_dont_know_if_acorn_has_done_anything_wrong_but_whatever_it_is_its_huge.php).

Beck and O’Reilly also traced ACORN’s headquarters and its 270 related organizations to a single address in New Orleans: a seemingly abandoned funeral home. (What’s a spooky flick without a funeral home?)

OK, what’s a modern horror film without a female heroine? Thankfully, we have one. Since ACORN is currently under investigation for voter fraud in 14 states, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) has urged Congress to block the group’s access to federal funds. Bachmann informed Fox News that ACORN has received 53 million taxpayer dollars since 1994. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) countered Bachmann (on legislation he initially supported) and his amendment passed. ACORN will continue to get taxpayer money (Chelsea Schilling, “Another ACORN Scandal – In a Funeral Home?: Group Operating Out of Small Building Donated $33 Million to Obama Campaign,” World Net Daily News, May 14, 2009, www.wnd.com).

Beck, O’Reilly and Bachmann are among the few heroes in this horror show. We need them to dig in this bone yard because we can forget anyone in Washington helping out. Eric Holder won’t look into ACORN and as Ben Conery reports, “the Justice Department banned Georgia from using a system to verify that voter registrants are U.S. citizens, saying it discriminated against racial minorities.” This ruling invites more voter fraud (“Justice Department Shifts on Voting, Deportation,” Washington Times, June 4, 2009, http://washingtontimes.com/news).

Every honest taxpayer – Republican and Democrat – should be concerned about the funding ACORN has received and is scheduled to receive. Given the group’s shady antics, we should scoff at their claims that the 14 voter fraud cases leveled against them are isolated incidents. “According to the Clark County Elections Department, 28,000 of 91,000 new voters registered by Las Vegas ACORN workers are duplicates” (Schilling, www.wnd.com). This isn’t Invasion of the Body Snatchers with replicated pod people taking over America. It’s scarier because we’re living it.
Ballots from Beyond the Grave

If you live in Illinois, Florida, California, Tennessee, Ohio, Oregon, Montana, Texas, Minnesota, West Virginia, South Dakota and Kentucky you can vote, even if you’re dead. Some states claim that votes cast as mailed-in absentee ballots before a voter died should count. Other states void absentee votes if a voter dies prior to an election. It appears that we need a national standard to correct such discrepancies and help stop voter fraud.

We are still a democracy, even if that great way of life is hanging by a thread these days. We can’t give up. Instead, we have to bolster our democratic existence and end this bad B-flick with a positive freedom-affirming bang. Honest elections should yield honest officials who represent the voting majority and reflect their positions. That didn’t happen last November, thanks in part to voter fraud on a rampant scale. Let’s take action and make our voices heard. Let’s back conservatives who, among other things, promise to stop rewarding bad behavior. We don’t need a sequel to Night of the Living Dead Voters. The last thing we want is to ramp up Invasion of the Voter Snatchers. And we can certainly do without The Second Coming of Count Obamula.
