As a concerned citizen, I oppose any and all efforts to further expand government control over the U.S. healthcare and insurance system. Specifically, I oppose the so-called “Public Option” proposals -- the “Affordable Health Choices Act” and other similar bills -- which amount to government-run, socialized health care that will impose massive taxes on the American people.
Like most Americans, I prefer getting my health coverage through private insurance rather than the federal government. That’s because government healthcare always results in higher costs and rationing. I do not want politicians and bureaucrats dictating the health care and insurance decisions of myself and my employer. Especially in these difficult economic times, I flatly reject any new government healthcare plan that imposes new taxes or burdens on individuals or businesses.

Why Government Healthcare Is Wrong And Must Be Stopped

Americans want to have access to affordable and quality healthcare, period. Undoubtedly, America has the best health care system in the world and the push for increased access to this grand system has never been greater. Unfortunately, President Obama and his liberal majority are proposing a Universal Healthcare “Public Option” that endangers the quality of world’s greatest health care system and ignores the individual rights of American citizens.
Regrettably, the majority party has proposed policies that refute common sense and create a government-run system that denies, delays, and rations care. As with other government controlled programs, the “Public Option” plan destroys market-based competition by forcing private insurers to compete on an uneven playing field with tax-payer supported government programs.

How The Government “Option” Is Really a
Government “Co-option”

-- Government “Co-option” means Government Control. Calling this a “public option” is a blatant lie. This plan is really a government “co-option” of our health care system, a system which is the envy of the world. This is socialized healthcare in which government is the final provider and insurer.

--Government “Co-option” will destroy private health care. A government-run health care plan would have unlimited access to taxpayer dollars and could operate at a loss indeterminately, would force private insurers out of business. The Congressional Budget Office has already projected that millions of Americans would be dropped from private plans provided by their employer in favor of the new “government” plan. Private health plans would not be able to compete and millions of Americans would be forced from their health plans.
--Government “Co-option” imposes massive burdens on business. The Obama/Kennedy plan would impose massive new burdens and taxes on employers who would pass on the costs to their employees. In these difficult economic times, we cannot afford to further burden American business with new government mandates and taxes.
--Government “Co-option” is not what Americans want. By a 60%-to-31% margin, Americans prefer getting their health coverage through private insurance rather than the federal government. Americans do NOT want ObamaCare -- they want more freedom to make their own healthcare choices.
-- Government “Co-option” is a massive new tax. At this time of economic turmoil, the government run “Public Option” could cost American taxpayers up to two trillion dollars. According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), such actions would substantially worsen the long-term economic outlook of the United States.
