Quinnipiac Poll Reveals Lowest Approval Ratings Ever For Obama - Courant.com

Quinnipiac Poll Reveals Lowest Approval Ratings Ever For Obama - Courant.com: "President Barack Obama's approval rating with American voters has dropped to 50 percent, a low point in his fledgling presidency and down from 57 percent a month ago, a Quinnipiac University poll released this morning shows.

Forty-two percent of those polled said they disapproved of his performance, and 9 percent said they either did not know or did not answer the question.

'The president is right on the magic 50 percent threshold in public approval because of bad grades on the economy and even worse grades on health care,' said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

'By a 49 33 percent margin, voters think his policies will help the economy, but they believe, 36 33 percent, that Obama's policies will hurt their personal financial situation,' Brown said in a statement.

The president's approval ratings have trended downward from 59 percent in March.

The nationwide poll of 2,409 registered voters was conducted from July 27 to Aug. 3. It has a margin of error of plus or minus two percentage points."
