"Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's." Exodus 20:17
"The Utopian schemes of leveling [wealth redistribution] and a community of goods, are as visionary and impractical as those which vest all property in the crown. These ideas are arbitrary, despotic, and, in our government, unconstitutional". -- Samuel Adams
"If we can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people, under the pretense of taking care of them, they must become happy." -- Thomas Jefferson
"That is not a just government … where the property which a man has in his personal safety and personal liberty, is violated by arbitrary seizures of one class of citizens for the service of the rest." -- James Madison
"From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs" -- Karl Marx
"My attitude is that if the economy's good for folks from the bottom up, it's gonna be good for everybody ... I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody." -- Barack Obama
Not since the 1930's and FDR have the politics of class envy, class warfare, resentment, and covetousness been used with such effectiveness than during the current health care debate. Barack Obama, the czar of many czars, is the self-appointed Class Envy Czar.
It's the same Democrat party which preaches that, "you can't legislate morality," that is now describing passing health care reform as even being a "moral obligation." The same party that sermonizes the principle of "separation of church and state," now desperately invokes the Bible to try to hustle their socialized medicine message.
From the Founding Fathers to philosophers, to religion, we've been instructed that coveting others property, wealth, paycheck, or healthcare insurance policy, is wrong. In his book, Envy, author Joseph Epstein writes: "Envy clouds thought, clobbers generosity, precludes any hope of serenity, and ends in shriveling the heart."
Since he has brought religion and morality into the health care discussion, it's fair and appropriate to point out that President Obama, a self-described Christian, violates two of the Bible’s Ten Commandments, "Thou shalt not steal," and "Thou shalt not covet".
If a person, even a "needy" person, steals cash from one of his "rich" neighbors, then goes down to the local shopping mall to spend it, or "redistribute" the cash, do we classify that as "fairness," or "leveling the playing field"? Or, do we call it theft? Do we demonize the rich neighbors for being "greedy".
Suppose the same needy person robs from six of his rich neighbors. Is this now considered healthy "wealth redistribution"?
Suppose 51% of the population of the United States votes, using the power, force and thuggery of the IRS, and ultimately the point of a gun, to confiscate cash from their "rich" neighbors, and to "spread the wealth around". After all, "they" (the rich) don't need it, right? Is this considered charity somehow? Is the theft lessened because it was sanctioned by majority vote?
In recent decades, more Americans have been bamboozled by politicians to depend on "benevolent" federal government bureaucrats to solve their problems. This is how poverty pimps and demagogues like Barack Obama have long operated. They demonize "the rich," implying they obtained their wealth by exploiting the poor; they endlessly clobber business and CEOs as evil; they promise, using Marxist deception, "equality," "fairness," and "social justice," if only we will vote them into power.
Politicians do all this continually, by appealing to the emotions of envy, resentment, jealousy, and anger. They know intuitively that if they can fire up enough of these poisonous passions in enough of us, they will manufacture a sizable and loyal voting bloc of people dependent on them, thus guaranteeing perpetual victories at election time. This Marxist phenomenon enlists class envy, and the spread thereof, which creates a seductive and addictive anchor of "cradle-to-grave security" through wealth redistribution.
Obama's "morality" is based on atheistic, collectivist, and the anti-American principle which asserts that government owns not only you, but what you have earned. And, as the owner of you, they have the right to decide which others are more deserving of the fruits of your labor than you are. There is nothing more immoral.
"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion . . . Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other." -- John Adams
Barack Obama's invoking religion and morality, in order to deceive the American people into supporting his Socialist schemes, is shameful, unethical, insulting, and desecrating. There is no morality in class envy.
