CNSNews.com - Chavez, Mugabe Attack Capitalism and the West at Copenhagen Climate Conference

CNSNews.com - Chavez, Mugabe Attack Capitalism and the West at Copenhagen Climate Conference: "(CNSNews.com) – Warning that the “silent and terrible ghost” of capitalism is lurking in Copenhagen, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez roused the global climate conference in the Danish capital Wednesday with a populist speech targeting his perennial target, the United States.

“I don’t think [President] Obama is here yet,” he observed. “He got the Nobel Peace Prize almost the same day as he sent 30,000 soldiers to kill innocent people in Afghanistan, and now he’s coming here with the Nobel Peace Prize, the president of the United States.”

Speaking at the first session of the high-level climax of the two-week conference which more than 100 leaders are expected to attend, Chavez railed against the developed world.

“There is a group of countries that believe they are superior to those of us from the south, to those of us from the Third Word,” he said. “This does not surprise us. We are again faced with powerful evidence of global imperial dictatorship.”"
