CNSNews.com - Obama Maintains Confidence in Embattled Treasury Secretary Amid AIG Questions: "(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama has full confidence in Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, now under scrutiny for e-mails that suggest the Federal Reserve Bank of New York pressured the bailed-out American International Group (AIG) to conceal information.

On Friday, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said that Geithner, who was president of the New York Fed before becoming the Treasury secretary, was not directly involved in the e-mails. Asked if the president still had confidence in Geithner, Gibbs said, “Yes.”

“Secretary Geithner was not involved in any of these e-mails,” Gibbs told reporters at the White House. “These decisions did not rise to his level. These are e-mails and decisions made by officials at an independent regulatory agency.”"
