Exclusive: It’s Time Airline Passengers Took Back Control of their Fates from the Government » Publications » Family Security Matters: "If we wait for the government to do anything effective about air safety we will all be too old – or too dead – to enjoy it. It is time for passengers and the airlines that serve them to take the initiative and achieve easy, worry-free air travel again. It can be done, and done relatively cheaply and quickly. It requires common sense and some rare imaginative administration – the equivalent of Alexander the Great cutting the Gordian Knot.

Since 9/11 the government, has created a Frankenstein bureaucracy to keep us safe in the air and on the ground – the TSA. This huge, monstrous creation, slow of foot and slower of mind, lumbers about our nation’s airports engaged in the dumbest of behavior and make-work. You can watch them shuffling the plastic trays for shoes from one end of their stations to the other ignoring the gaze of confused passengers. They pounce on threatening toothpicks and nail clippers and confiscate sinister bottles of Listerine. They busy themselves patting down ancient grandmas and hapless rabbis. They sit staring sightlessly at a screen daydreaming or chatting with their fellow guardians. In sum the federal government has created a jobs program for a national army of affable low-IQ low-pay grade people who are supposed to be protecting you and your loved ones from determined terrorists."
