America’s politicians are hopelessly addicted to spending.
“Our debt is mind boggling,” said Beck as he rattled off a list of the nation’s financial obligations: $12 trillion in national debt; $8 trillion in bailouts; and $106 trillion in unfunded liabilities (over $346,000 per person).
“It doesn’t take a Harvard education to understand that at some point we have to pay this money back and we don’t have the money,” he said.
And yet the Democrats running the federal government are rushing headlong into creating a Big Government healthcare system, a new entitlement program that will effectively have an unlimited budget. Moreover, the new healthcare system will give the government control over every aspect of Americans’ daily lives.
Worse, the leftist politicians trying to impose this socialist healthcare monstrosity on the American people don’t even have the courage of their convictions. They refuse to allow the public to observe lawmakers’ deliberations as they attempt to reconcile the differences in the House and Senate version of the legislation.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) mocked a questioner who asked why Democrats had abandoned their campaign promise to make debate on the healthcare plan transparent. “There has never been a more open process,” she lied. Beck recounted all the times on the campaign trail then-presidential candidate Barack Obama promised to make the debate open and accessible to the public:
