Pelosi's Fantasia - WSJ.com

Pelosi's Fantasia - WSJ.com: "Last night, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi continued to express optimism that health care reform was on track. 'We will get the job done,' she said as she left her office just before midnight. 'I am confident of that. I have always been confident of that.'

She went on to say she didn't view the Massachusetts vote as particularly significant. 'Massachusetts has health care and so the rest of the country would like to have that too,' she told reporters. 'So we don't [think] a state that already has health care should determine whether the rest of the country should.'

Ms. Pelosi was quickly contradicted by members of her own caucus, many of whom are eager to see the focus shifted to job creation and fighting the recession. Even a stalwart supporter of health care reform such Rep. Barney Frank warned Tuesday night that it would be a mistake 'to pass a health care bill as if the Massachusetts election had not happened.' Mr. Frank also suggested that a 'reasonable compromise' between the House and Senate bills was no longer in the cards."
