Stimulate American Construction First!

Stimulate American Construction First!: "A question …

IF America’s economy is in such bad shape (job losses at near record levels, companies requiring multi-billion dollar government bailouts, etc.) then why are we awarding large domestic infrastructure contracts to Chinese companies instead of American companies?

China State Construction Engineering Corp, the largest contractor in China, was recently awarded a $100 million dollar subway ventilation project in Manhattan. And this is not the first order they have been given – it’s the third construction contract in American infrastructure work in the past 12 months!

In the first nine months of 2009, the Chinese construction giant has signed more than $2 billion worth of contracts in the US. They are also the contractor for a high school, a train station, and the new Chinese embassy. (The only contract that seems logical to me is the one to build the embassy.)"
