Don’t Worry, Gov’t Won’t Implement ObamaCare Effectively

Don’t Worry, Gov’t Won’t Implement ObamaCare Effectively: "Syndicated columnist E.J. Dionne’s latest is a ringing defense of the IRS on Tax Day, arguing they are patriots who are maligned by pundits and opinion pages.

Everyone is entitled to his opinion of course, though Capital Hill suspects that Dionne is trying his readers’ patience by putting that column out on this day of all days.

One section stood out though: a rather novel joint defense of the IRS and ObamaCare. As Dionne explains:

One attack on the recently passed health care bill is that its mandate requiring individuals to buy insurance will be enforced by the IRS. In fact, the penalties for not buying insurance are low. Moreover, Douglas Shulman, the IRS commissioner, told Congress that the IRS would not audit taxpayers to see if they had purchased coverage."
