Taking Guns Away from Our Troops » Blog » Family Security Matters: "In a New Policy, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates is disarming our military! In the wake of the Fort Hood shootings, he has quietly introduced a policy regulating how private firearms can be carried or stored on U.S. military installations. In practical terms this shows that our Secretary of Defense doesn't trust our military with guns, leaving them even more vulnerable to terrorists. If those troops in Fort Hood had been armed, I strongly suspect that Major Hasan would have been stopped much more quickly than he was - after all, his victims were well trained in responding to armed attack, but had no weapons available due to existing policies. Slapping further restrictions on the availability of weapons to trained warriors is just the solution - no need to worry about the inadequate checks on a renegade emailing an Al-Qaeda linked Imam after this latest policy edict! What a fool, and presumably with approval from the Commander-in-Chief?"
