While driving down the road yesterday in an area known as Glassell Park, about 2 miles northeast of Dodger Stadium, I came upon a detour. There were road blocks and military troops in full-on combat gear doing who knows what in the middle of a residential neighborhood. From a distance I could only see the shape of a few people dressed in uniform standing behind roads blocks w/a couple of hummers and a tank behind them. They road-blocked and enclosed an area of a few blocks (I don't know how many to be exact) but I do know this: They made sure people couldn't get into their secured area. I don't know whether they were letting the people who were enclosed out. All of this shocked me because, knowing the composition of that particular area I knew that several homes and families were enclosed, including a Catholic church and the little grammar school attached to it. There is also a small library for the residents of the community there, it too, within the blocked area. I didn't see any police, and I found that to be curious.
I saw all of this while detouring and only in passing, I didn't stop to observe more. I wish I would have had a camera w/me, but I didn't. Now I realize the importance of carrying one w/me at all times. The sight of seeing those streets blocked off was chilling. I didn't stay to observe more because it was so creepy. What I observed happened at about 11:30 am. Their presence there covered a time span of somewhere between sunrise, and as I discovered later, 12 noon.
