Right off the bat I will admit publicly that, unlike the Obamanation, I am NOT an internationally recognized scholar when it comes to The Declaration of Independence. Nor do I vacation on Martha’s Vineyard….. but I digress. All that said, there is a portion of the Declaration that either is missed by scholars or intentionally misinterpreted by today’s pundits — especially those on the Left — and that needs to be brought to your attention.
The passage of which I speak is, “…..all Men are created equal.” First of all, and to remove any possibility of someone trying to launch an attack from yet another distracting angle, when you see writing from that era that includes a capital “M,” (as in Men), it includes women as well. So with that out of the way, we need to focus on what I believe was the intent of the Founding Fathers in including that passage.
These days, much is made of “differences,” differences in salaries, homes, cars, clothes, food, education, travel, religion (including mosque locations), and on and on interminably. If you examine the root message in many items of so-called “NEWS,” you will see the commonality of the topic of “differences” among virtually all of them. The flip side is the constant call for more “diversity,” whether it is in opinion (except on college campuses, of course), class, ethnic origin, or gender.
All of this results from the emphasis within the passage on the word “equal.” For us Humans, that is natural and is to be expected. Take a look, though, to the immediate left of the word “equal” and you will see the neglected word, the word that the Left wishes had not been included, that they wish would go away. What I believe is of just as much importance is the word “created.” That is, we all come into this world in the same manner and at that time we all stand at the beginning of the same road.
