Snowstorm hits New York City neighborhoods still damaged by Hurricane Sandy - NYPOST.com: New York’s three nearby airports cleared snow and went wheels up this morning, but an army of travelers were still left with no immediate way out of town.
The early-season nor’easter that slammed Gotham between yesterday afternoon and sunrise today forced the cancelation of thousands out of JFK, LaGuardia and Newark.
As day broke and snow was cleared off runways, a majority of flights -- especially to short-haul destinations -- were able to take off.
That still left huge numbers of travelers -- booked yesterday or today on international or cross-country journeys -- scrambling to find precious few seats open on early evening flights that are, for now, scheduled to leave the tri-state area.
Many will be stuck here until at least tomorrow.
