The Coming Storm: Obamacare forces layoffs | Conservative Register: The full effect of Obama’s signature piece of legislation is already being felt by small businesses from coast to coast. The lay-offs have already begun.
Just two days after the November 6th election, a small business owner in Las Vegas called into a local radio show and discussed his frustration with Obamacare. In the interview, the caller discusses how his worst fears were realized when he was forced to lay-off 15% of his work force when he had to terminate 22 of his 144 employees.
“I had to lay off 22 people today to make sure that my business is gonna thrive and I’m gonna be around for years to come,” he said. “I have to build up that nest egg for the taxes and regulations that are coming my way.”
Judy Nichols, a Papa John’s franchise owner in Houston Texas, understands what is coming down the pipeline as well. Judy explained the negative effects of Obamacare when she informed Steve Doocy, of Fox and Friends, that businesses that carry more than 50 employees will have to pay $2,000, per employee, for health care.
“We can’t afford that,” she explains, “it’s just pizza.”
