Communism Has Nothing to Do With Sharing or Fairness - Patriot UpdatePatriot Update: Subtlety is not a trait commonly found in the Russian character, as the world witnessed at the opening ceremony of the 2014 winter games in Sochi. Unmistakable communist imagery in the form of enormous foam hands carrying a hammer and a sickle and the playing of an old Soviet hymn was met with great applause. Comparisons to Rocky Balboa entering the layer of the invincible Ivan Drago would not be inappropriate here.

The media hardly seemed to bat an eye at Sochi’s communist nostalgia. Indifference was the primary reaction but some members of the press seemed to go as far as sharing the sentiment. Wasn’t communism grand?
