» US ground troops could join Iraqis in ISIS fight » News -- GOPUSA: US defense chiefs suggested yesterday that American troops might join Iraqi forces against Islamic State (ISIS), despite Barack Obama's repeated public assurances that US soldiers would not engage in fighting on the ground.

A day after US warplanes bombed to the southwest of Baghdad, US general Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, told the Senate armed services committee that he could see himself recommending using US military forces in Iraq if the air campaign failed to destroy Isis. "If we reach the point where I believe our advisers should accompany Iraqi troops on attacks against specific [Isis] targets, I will recommend that to the president," Dempsey said.
