Jabhat al-Nusra just split from Al Qaeda, and here's what that means - Business Insider: One of the biggest terrorism players in Syria, Jabhat al-Nusra, just distanced itself from its parent organization, Al Qaeda, in what analysts see as a savvy political maneuver.

Jabhat al-Nusra, aka the Nusra Front, has risen to power amid the Syrian civil war that has dragged on for more than five years.
