Leesburg man charged with federal espionage | Articles | fairfaxtimes.com: A Leesburg man made his initial appearance in federal court June 22 on charges that he transmitted Top Secret and Secret documents to an agent of the People’s Republic of China.

According to the affidavit in support of the criminal complaint, Kevin Patrick Mallory, 60, travelled to Shanghai in March and April and met with an individual (PRC1) he believed to work for the People’s Republic of China Intelligence Service (PRCIS).

“The conduct alleged in this complaint is serious and should send a message to anyone who would consider violating the public’s trust and compromising our national security by disclosing classified information,” said Dana J. Boente, Acting Assistant Attorney General for National Security and the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia.
