Otsego County man arrested three days after being released on bail reform

Otsego County man arrested three days after being released on bail reform: A man was arrested Friday for allegedly stealing a pickup truck in the town of Laurens three days after he was released from Otsego County Jail due to bail reform.

James C. Sitts, 39, was in jail facing second-degree burglary charges before he was released Tuesday. He had been in jail awaiting trial since Dec. 8, 2018, according to Sheriff Richard Devlin.

Sitts is now charged with grand larceny in the third degree and criminal possession of stolen property, both felonies.

The Otsego County Sheriff’s Office says the pickup truck was located in the town of Laurens.

Sitts was arraigned in Otsego County Court and remanded to Otsego County Jail with no bail on the new charges. The bail on the previous burglary charges were reinstated at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond.
