Reynolds to deploy Iowa State Patrol officers to southern border

Reynolds to deploy Iowa State Patrol officers to southern border: Gov. Kim Reynolds will send members of the Iowa State Patrol to the United States’ southern border. The governor's office announced Thursday that Iowa State Patrol officers will aid law enforcement efforts in response to a request from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey. In an emailed statement, Reynolds’ cited an “unsustainable” rise in drugs, human trafficking and violent crime at the border as influences in her decision to send aid. “My first responsibility is to the health and safety of Iowans and the humanitarian crisis at our nation’s southern border is affecting all 50 states,” Reynolds said in a statement.
